Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) and Bathythermograph (XBT) data were collected by Ship POLAR DUKE and NATHANIEL B. PALMER. Data profiles were collected from November 7, 1991 to May 12, 1993. Data files were submitted by Dave Smith of Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. Documentation regarding file format and location, etc. is provided.

Temperature, salinity, and other data were collected from bottle and CTD casts from the Nathaniel B. Palmer from 09 November 1994 to 08 December 1994. Data were collected from the Ross Sea in support of the Ross Sea Polynya Project. Data include profiles of temperature, potential temperature, salinity, and density anomalies. Data were collected by researchers from the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University. Project was funded by the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs. All data files are written in ASCII format.

Salinity, temperature, depth (STD) and other data was collected using the United States Coast Guard (USCG) ships BURTON ISLAND, GLACIER and NORTH WIND by the US Navy. Data was collected in the Arctic Ocean from July 30, 1971 to August 5, 1977 and submitted by the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. Station Data was submitted on tape which has been processed. Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard High-Resolution CTD/STD (F022) format. The F022 format contains high-resolution data collected using CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) and STD (salinity-temperature-depth) instruments. As they are lowered and raised in the oceans, these electronic devices provide nearly continuous profiles of temperature, salinity, and other parameters. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering or obtained by interpolation and may be reported at depth intervals as fine as 1m. Cruise and instrument information, position, date, time and sampling interval are reported for each station. Environmental data at the time of the cast (meteorological and sea surface conditions) may also be reported. The data record comprises values of temperature, salinity or conductivity, density (computed sigma-t), and possibly dissolved oxygen or transmissivity at specified depth or pressure levels. Data may be reported at either equally or unequally spaced depth or pressure intervals. A text record is available for comments.

Temperature, salinity, and nutrients data were collected from CTD and bottle casts in the Pacific Ocean from the Nathaniel B. Palmer from 08 October 1996 to 05 November 1996. Data were collected as part of the US JGOFS Antarctic Environments Southern Ocean Process Study (AESOPS). CTD data include temperature and salinity profiles. Bottle data include concentration profiles of nitrate, nitrite, silicate, phosphate, ammonia, phaeopigment, and chlorophyll a.

The Conductivity Temperature and Depth (CTD) data was collected by Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) between January 1978 and March 1980. The data CTD data from International Weddell Sea Oceanographic Expedition (1968-1970) (IWSOE) was submitted by Dr. Theodore Foster in Binary format. The Ocean Station Data; and Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) Bottle data from 25 casts were collected using ship R/V Weatherbird II during cruises # 791-813. The data was collected from January 1, 1995 to December 31, 1995 in Bremuda, NW Atlantic (limit-40 W) by Bermuda Biological Station for Research, Inc. and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA. The Station S data was received by NODC via internet from George Heimerdinger.
