2020 Offshore Petroleum Acreage Release Areas MapServer
The annual offshore petroleum exploration acreage release is part of the government’s strategy to promote offshore oil and gas exploration. Each year, the government invites companies to bid for the opportunity to invest in oil and gas exploration in Australian waters. The 2020 acreage release consists of 42 areas offshore of the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Victoria and the Ashmore and Cartier Islands.

2022 Offshore petroleum exploration acreage release
공공데이터포털
This resource is the 2022 offshore petroleum acreage release. The 2022 Petroleum Acreage Release comprises 10 areas located across four sedimentary basins: the Bonaparte Basin, the Browse Basin, the Gippsland Basin and the Northern Carnarvon Basin. Work program bidding for the 2022 release areas will remain open until 2 March 2023. For more information on investing in offshore petroleum exploration, including the acreage release map booklet and diagrams, refer to the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. For information on the 2022 acreage release areas visit the Department of Industry, Science and Resources website. The release areas can also be viewed interactively via the Acreage Release persona on Geoscience Australia's Data Discovery Portal.

Geoscience Australia's Southwest Margin Geophysical Surveys
공공데이터포털
The Australian Government's five year (2006-2011) Offshore Energy Security Program aims to encourage the discovery of new hydrocarbon resources in Australia's vast offshore frontier areas through the provision of pre-competitive data and information. One priority region, identified in consultation with the petroleum exploration industry and the respective State and Northern Territory geological surveys, is the southwestern continental margin of Australia. Geoscience Australia's Southwest Margin Project is investigating the petroleum potential of sedimentary basins located on the continental margin extending from Cape Range to Cape Leeuwin. Primary areas of interest include the Perth and Mentelle basins. Other areas of interest include the southern Exmouth Sub-basin (Northern Carnarvon Basin), the offshore Southern Carnarvon Basin and the Wallaby Plateau. The main aims of the Southwest Margin Project are to provide pre-competitive regional information to underpin opportunities for the discovery of a new hydrocarbon province, to support promotion of selected areas for petroleum exploration, to enhance our understanding of petroleum potential and aspects of exploration risk and to inform future marine planning. Quaternary Evolution, Modern Geological Processes and Potential Effects of Additional Petroleum Exploration Activity on the Van Diemen Rise, Timor Sea (East Malita Graben Area) : Release 1 of 1992
공공데이터포털
To meet the formal requirements for the collection, interpretation and analysis ofenvironmental baseline data in Australia's offshore areas in which further petroleumexploration could take place, the modern geological processes, Quaternary evolutionand environmental features of the potential release area(s) in the Van Diemen Rise(East Malita Graben, Timor Sea) which will be included in the first release of 1992are described, analysed and interpreted. The potential release area(s) overlie part of the Van Diemen Rise in the eastern partof the Timor Sea in the vicinity of Cootamundra and Evans Shoals. Sea bottomsediments in the region are dominantly calcareous sand grade and derived from thebreakdown of skeletal material which has developed on an extensive number ofbanks and shoals which characterise this part of the continental shelf. The sea bottom is also marked by a number of sinuous and narrow curvilinearchannel like features which along with other geomorphic elements are attributed tothe effects of subaerial exposure and weathering of the carbonate shelf sedimentwedge during Quaternary lower sea level stages, as well as marine and coastalprocesses which occurred during sea level rise and marine inundation. The Holocene rise in sea level has resulted in inundation of a large number of wave-cut scarps, channels and flat top banks, the latter of which became the focus ofcarbonate reef growth and hence a source of much of the sand-grade carbonatesediments evident on the sea floor.
