Murray-Darling Basin Authority - A guide to Traditional Owner Groups for Water Resource Plan Areas
This combined map, table and dataset list Traditional Owner groups for the purpose of water resource planning for each of the 19 surface water and 19 groundwater resource plan areas (WRPAs) for the Murray-Darling Basin. The table and map has been compiled using a number of sources and should only be used as a preliminary guide. Endorsed by Murray Lower Darling Rivers Indigenous Nations, August 2018, and Northern Basin Aboriginal Nations, October 2018.

The Basin Plan's management arrangements will be implemented at a local scale through water resource plans prepared by the Basin states for accreditation by the Commonwealth Water Minister. The Basin has been divided into 19 surface-water water resource plan areas. The boundaries of these areas are shown in the Surface Water Water Resource Plan Areas dataset. The surface-water water resource plan areas cover the entire Basin, including those areas not previously subject to water planning arrangements. The water resources in the Murray-Darling Basin to which the Basin Plan will apply are identified in the Water Act 2007 (Cwlth). These resources do not include the Great Artesian Basin water resources.

This dataset defines the boundaries of the 19 groundwater water resource plan areas (WRPAs) for the Murray-Darling Basin. 2 of the groundwater water resource plan areas have different boundaries in their surface outcrop expression than in buried formations and therefore are shown either with an Outcrop and Buried extent, or with an Outcrop extent and extent representing All formations.

A collection of data for irrigation infrastructure across the Murray-Darling Basin, for purposes of natural resource management, salinity and drainage planning. Data themes contributed by many organisations and landowners, collated to a common data standard by the State Contributing Agencies, included drain locations and details, drainage catchment boundaries, drainage structures, supply channels and other related information. This archive version includes the Electronic Atlas version 2.2 as published on CD in 2003 and State deliverable data layers used in the Electronic Atlas version 2.2.
