This dataset is available on Brisbane City Council’s open data website – data.brisbane.qld.gov.au. Brisbane City Council monitors the quality of waterways to ensure the public is not exposed to unnecessary health risk. Council monitors the water quality at 11 sites in the Brisbane River and sections of Moreton Bay, which have high rates of recreational use. The datasets derived from the monitoring are published and warning signs are put in place where required. Information on water quality monitoring can be found on the Brisbane City Council website. This dataset consists of the level of microbial contamination within Brisbane River and Moreton Bay. Brisbane City Council monitors of enterococci bi-monthly in summer and monthly during the cooler winter months. The presence of high levels of enterococci can vary daily, and may be elevated after heavy rainfall. Enterococci exposure can contribute to increased health risk and primary contact should be avoided. The Data and resources section of this dataset contains further information for this dataset.
