AEDC - Communication Skills and General Knowledge (LGA) 2009-2018
This dataset contains information from the 'Communication skills and general knowledge' domain of the Australian Early Development Censuses (AEDC) from 2009 - 2018. The data is based on 2016 Local Government Areas (LGA) boundaries. The AEDC is a population-based measure of children's development as they enter their first year of full-time school, and takes place nationally every three years. It looks at five domains of early childhood development: physical health and wellbeing (plus three health sub-domains), social competence, emotional maturity, language and cognitive skills, and communication skills and general knowledge. For more information visit the AEDC website. Please note suppression of AEDC data occurs when one or more of the following have been met: Three or fewer children had been assessed Fewer than fifteen children had valid AEDC scores Less than two teachers had completed AEDC instruments for children in that location AEDC instruments were completed for less than 80% of all non special needs children Additional minor suppression's have occurred where necessary to preserve confidentiality of related suppressed cells. Please Note: AURIN has spatially enabled the original data. AEDC results for Unincorp. Other Territories (LGA code 99399) were split across two records in the original data, AURIN has excluded these results from this dataset.

Excludes persons born in 'Australia, (includes External Territories), nfd', 'Norfolk Island' and 'Australian External Territories, nec' and persons who did not state a country of birth. The data is by GCCSA 2016 boundaries. Periodicity: 5-Yearly. Note: There are small random adjustments made to all cell values to protect the confidentiality of data.
