CSIRO/Industry Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) Banana Prawn Sampling 1983 - 1986
This dataset was collected to calculate optimal seasonal opening dates for the commercial fishery and to provide other management advice, by undertaking size sampling of pre-season and in-season banana prawns (F. merguiensis and F. indicus). In-season sampling of commercial catch on commercial trawlers (1983 - 1985) was supplemented during the season by data obtained from quality control staff at KFV Fisheries Pty Ltd. Sampling was organized for pre- and in-season searching and sampling voyages and prawns were sampled and measured from as many trawlers as possible.

CSIRO Commercial Factory Prawn Catch Sampling in the Gulf of Carpentaria - 1979 - 1991
공공데이터포털
This dataset was collected mainly to provide banana prawn length-frequency data by undertaking size sampling of commercial catches of banana prawns (P merguiensis). The aim was to calculate optimal seasonal opening dates for the commercial fishery and to provide other management advice. Length-frequency data for other prawn species was also provided.
CSIRO / Industry-trained crew catch sampling at sea of prawns in the Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) 1988-1990
공공데이터포털
This data was collected to obtain base information for prawn management advice. Data were collated by 6 nm grid squares species, sex and size distribution (carapace length) of prawns in the commercial catch 1988 - 1990 inclusive. Also collated were turtle distribution in catches in 1989. All samples were taken and processed by CSIRO trained commercial trawl boat crews and presumably all samples were taken from areas of high abundance at that time. The fishing times over this period were 15 April to 22 June and about 1 August to 30 November.
Northern Prawn Fisheries (NPF) Monitoring Project 2002 - 2004
공공데이터포털
This dataset was collected by CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric division as part of its monitoring of the Northern Prawn Fishery. This is a key dataset for two separate prawn research projects ('NPF Monitoring' and 'New Catch Rates'), which have the following broad objectives: To map distribution and spatial contraction of prawns. To quantify the movement of banana and tiger prawns between the inshore and offshore waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Specifically this dataset is used: 1. To calculate the recruitment index each year for the main prawn species by region (January/February surveys). 2. To calculate the spawning index each year for the main prawn species by region (July/August surveys).
Tropical Prawn Project Prawn Trawl Data c1975-1979 (Redfield Data)
공공데이터포털
Prawn trawl data from Weipa, East and South East Gulf of Carpentaria in the late 1970s. The main objective was to ascertain the distribution and abundance of each of the main commercial and some non-commercial penaeid species. The main data collection was performed off the Judy B with cruises repeated every month for 13 months; some other vessels were involved at different times (Kalinda, Raptis Pearl, Sprightly). Trawling was conducted at night and consisting of 30 minute shots. All prawns were sorted by species (general codes used) and sex, but no weights were recorded. Catch rates were expressed as number of prawns caught per net per hour. There were more than four sampling plans.
Karumba/Norman River Banana Prawn Data 1975-1979
공공데이터포털
Banana prawn sampling was carried out in the Norman River for four seasons to measure immigration, residents and emigration. In 1979, four other river systems in the surrounding area were sampled to look at geographic variation.
Munro Prawn Surveys - SE Gulf of Carpentaria 1963-1965
공공데이터포털
This dataset series comprises deck logs from the vessel "Rama" in which observations made during the Gulf of Carpentaria Prawn Survey are recorded. This survey was conducted jointly by the Queensland State and Commonwealth Governments during 1963-1965 to examine the prawn resources of the south-eastern corner of the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Weipa Juvenile Prawn Data 1986-1992
공공데이터포털
Fortnightly sampling of juvenile prawns took place over six years (1986-1992). These samples were mainly taken from the Embley River and Albatross Bay, plus one set that were taken from the Wenlock and Archer Rivers. Samples were collected using beam trawls, plankton nets and set nets. Data recorded include species and length frequency. As part of this project, monthly temperature and salinity measurements were also taken from transects in the Embley River. These data are often referred to as the "Embley River Hydro Dataset".
QDPI - Torres Strait Prawn Project: A review of research 1986-1988
공공데이터포털
This is an interim report by Queensland's Department of Primary Industries (QDPI) Torres Strait Prawn Project, published in 1990. It represents a portion of three years research, from 1986-1988, which had the following objectives: Determine the distribution and abundance of juvenile prawns in seagrass areas. Establish the timing and pathways of recruitment and migration of the prawns. Collate historical catch data and monitor commercial catch/effort. Determine spawning periods. Establish growth and mortality rates. Assist management in the rationalization of spatial and temporal closures. Assist management in the formulation fo optimum effort levels and of a TAC. Munro Prawn Surveys - Fish Records - SE Gulf of Carpentaria 1963-1965
공공데이터포털
This dataset series comprises fish species composition data collected during the survey conducted jointly by the Queensland State and Commonwealth Governments during 1963-1965 to examine the prawn resources of the south-eastern corner of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Aubrey Harris retrieved the data from Rainer and Munro c.1984 - and it was used by Aubrey Harris and Ian Poiner for analysis for their paper (Harris, A. N. M. and Poiner, I. R. (1991)).
Southern Surveyor Voyage SS 03/2005 Prawn Trawl Samples
공공데이터포털
The dataset comprises catch records of demersal fish and invertebrates from prawn trawl deployments completed on research voyage SS 03/2005. The survey design was a natural experiment (i.e. control-impact, but not before-after) to test the long-term, broadscale effects of prawn fishing on non-target species and habitats. Deployments were stratified by fishing intensity (three strata) and day/night. The survey was repeated in three regions: (a) north of Groote Eylandt, (b) north-east of the Vanderlins, and (c) north of Mornington Island. The number of deployments completed as part of the natural experiment was 124. Outside of the natural experiment, an additional 31 deployments were completed at dawn or dusk for diet analysis and an additional two deployments were completed for other reasons.
