Huon Estuary Study - Physical Snapshot Surveys Dataset 1997-1998
공공데이터포털
This dataset contains data collected from 24/2/97 to 24/8/98 in the Lower Reaches of the Huon Estuary, Tasmania. One day surveys were carried out on five occassions on the day preceding HES4, HES5, HES6, HES9 and HES10 (see Huon Estuary Study - Spatial Survey Data 1996-1998 for details of these surveys). Physical Snapshots Surveys 1(PS01) & 2(PS02) took the form of a number of rapidly deployed CTD's and underway data collection. For Physical Snapshots Surveys 3(PS03), 4(PSO4) & 5(PS05) only the underway system was deployed.
Huon Estuary Study 1996/1998 - CTD Data
공공데이터포털
The Huon Estuary Study was undertaken by CSIRO Marine Research between 1996 and 1998. The Huon Estuary is in South Eastern Tasmania. This record references the CTD data from both the spatial (HES) and the weekly monitoring (CM) surveys of the Huon Estuary Study. For the spatial (HES) surveys this includes the raw, intermediate, processed and calibrated data. The record also references the software used to process this data together with the technical reports written in support of the datasets. Two ctd profilers were utilized during the spatial surveys, their deployment during the spatial surveys is described in a technical report CTD Data From the Spatial Surveys of the Huon Estuary, OMR-121/117. A technical report on the performance of the seabird ctd is Sea-Bird CTD Performance in a Salt-Wedge Estuary, OMR-116/117. For the weekly monitoring (CM) surveys only preliminary processing has been undertaken. A readme_cont_ctd.txt file describes the processing routine followed for the weekly monitoring surveys. This dataset has not been calibrated. There are also other problems with the weekly monitoring ctd data especially in terms of depth registration (see Lineage below). CTD deployment information (not the actual data) is stored in the project database which is described by the 'Huon Estuary Study 1996/1998 - Database' metadata record. A number of CTD's were also deployed during the Physical Snapshot Surveys (see Marlin record 'Huon Estuary Study 1996/1998 - Physical Snapshot Survey Data') These ctd's were quickly deployed, the data was not processed and they form part of the snapshot dataset along with underway data collected on the same day. For these reasons this data are not referenced by this metadata record and does not form part of the HES CTD dataset.
Huon Estuary Study - Spatial Survey Data 1996-1998
공공데이터포털
This dataset describes data collected from the Huon Estuary (Tasmania). Data was collected over a three day period approximately every three months from March 1996 until August 1998. 10 surveys were completed (HES1 to HES10). Data was collected from 61 sites, ranging from 0 salinity at Judbury to a salinity of 35 at the seaward end of the estuary near Huon Island. 5 sites were located near fish farms (refer to the separate metadata record for weekly data at these sites). At these sites, data was collected for all parameters (CTD, salinity, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, pigments, spectral absorbance and phytoplankton) measured. At a further 31 sites spread over the estuary, data was collected for the physical and chemical parameters only. At the remaining 25 sites, only physical (CTD) data was collected. Below Port Huon, samples were collected at three depths - surface, fluorescence maximum and from within the salt wedge. Above Port Huon, samples were collected from the surface and from the salt wedge (where present). This dataset forms part of the CSIRO Marine Research Huon Estuary study, conducted over the period 1996-1998.
Huon Estuary Study - Contaminants Survey August/September 1998
공공데이터포털
This dataset describes data collected from the Huon Estuary (Tasmania). Data was collected over a four day period during August/September 1998. Data was collected from 14 sites, ranging from 0 salinity at Judbury to a salinity of 35 at the seaward end of the estuary near Huon Island. Sites were selected to as possible sources of contaminants. Most sites were a subset from the Huon Estuary Study spatial surveys (refer to separate metadata record). Water samples were collected during the first three days. These samples were collected for salinity, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, trace metals, pesticides, pigments, spectral absorbance and phytoplankton. Sediment samples were collected during the last day. These samples were collected for organic tracers, pesticides, mercury and phytoplankton cysts. (Refer to the SED1 metadata record for more sediment information from the Huon Project.) This dataset forms part of the CSIRO Marine Research Huon Estuary study, conducted over the period 1996-1998.
Huon Estuary Study - Weekly Monitoring Dataset 1996-1998
공공데이터포털
This dataset describes data collected from 5/11/96 to 5/10/98 in the Huon Estuary, Tasmania at weekly or fortnightly time frames depending on algal bloom conditions. Data were collected at five of the biological station from the Huon Estuary Spatial Surveys (see separate MarLIN entry). The five stations were located at Hideaway, Kilalla, and Wheatley's Bays, Brabazon Park and Port Cygnet. At each sampling station a CTD was deployed and three niskin bottle samples were taken, one at each of the surface, middle and bottom water layers. Bottle samples have been analysed for salinity, dissolved oxygen, nutrient and pigments. An integrated water sample (for algal presence data) and a phytoplankton net sample were also taken. During algal blooms spectral absorption was analysed and algal counts were calculated.
Huon Estuary Study 1996/1998 - Hydrology/Water Quality Data
공공데이터포털
Data collection was in a seasonal (HES Surveys)and a weekly/fortnightly (CM Surveys) regime. Water quality and trace metal data were collected during the August/September 1998 Contaminants Survey (HES10A). This record references the hydrology, nutrients and water quality data for the Huon Estuary Study. This includes nitrite, nitrate, total dissolved nitrogen, total nitrogen, phosphate, total dissolved nitrogen, silicate, salinity, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, suspended solid and trace metal data. The final data for these data parameters has been loaded into the project database (and subsequently the oracle database) see Marlin record 'Huon Estuary Study-Database'. However, these final datasets along with any intermediate files have also been written to cdrom as text files for archiving purposes by the Data Centre, Hobart. Methods documentation has also been written to the archive cdrom. The completed Field Sheets for all surveys have been stored by the Data Centre-Hobart.

This record describes Hydrology (HYD) data collected from the Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Investigator voyage IN2024_V02, titled: "SOTS: Southern Ocean Time Series automated moorings for climate and carbon cycle studies southwest of Tasmania" The voyage took place between March 31 to April 19, 2024, departing from Hobart (TAS) and returning to Hobart. Hydrology samples were collected from Niskin bottles sampled at various depths during Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) deployments. Parameters analysed were salinity, dissolved oxygen, phosphate, silicate, nitrate plus nitrite and ammonium. This dataset has been processed (quality-controlled), and archived at the CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure (NCMI) Information and Data Centre (IDC) in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the Voyage Report and Data Processing Report.
Backscatter grid of the Huon River survey area
공공데이터포털
Geoscience Australia carried out marine surveys in southeast Tasmania in 2008 and 2009 (GA0315) to map seabed bathymetry and characterise benthic environments through observation of habitats using underwater towed video. Data was acquired using the Tasmania Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute (TAFI) Research Vessel Challenger. Bathymetric mapping was undertaken in seven survey areas, including: Freycinet Pensinula (83 sq km, east coast and shelf); Tasman Peninsula (117 sq km, east coast and shelf); Port Arthur and adjacent open coast (17 sq km); The Friars (41 sq km, south of Bruny Island); lower Huon River estuary (39 sq km); D Entrecastreaux Channel (7 sq km, at Tinderbox north of Bruny Island), and; Maria Island (3 sq km, western side). Video characterisations of the seabed concentrated on areas of bedrock reef and adjacent seabed in all mapped areas, except for D Entrecastreaux Channel and Maria Island. huon_1m is an ArcGIS layer of the backscatter grid of the Huon River survey area produced from the processed EM3002 backscatter data of the survey area using the CMST-GA MB Process This dataset is a contribution to the CERF Marine Biodiversity Hub.
