Marmion Lagoon Seagrass Survey Data Western Australia 1979-1998
This dataset contains seagrass distribution and density data from Marmion Lagoon, Perth, Western Australia. Every 6 months from 1979 until January 1998, two transects a north south and an east west (370 m and 330 m long) in 4 m of water were conducted. Any species or density changes along the transects were recorded.

This data is part of the 2013 report "Synthesis of seagrass mapping studies" conducted by the Water Science Branch of the Department of Water. Surveys were conducted by the WA Department of Water together with Geoscience Australia. The objective of these surveys was to collect baseline data on seagrass composition and distribution in key estuaries of southern and south-western WA. This data was acquired by the ACEAS Seagrass Group as part of the 2013 Australia-wide risk assessment of Seagrass. The datasets making up the Irwin Inlet seagrass survey data are: WA_Irwin_SAV_polygons - polygon dataset showing interpolated percentage cover of Ruppia spp.
Sediment Data for Tasman Peninsula, Tasmania

Geoscience Australia carried out marine surveys in south-east Tasmania in 2008 and 2009 (GA0315) to map seabed bathymetry and characterise benthic environments through observation of habitats using underwater towed video. Data was acquired using the Tasmania Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute (TAFI) Research Vessel Challenger. Bathymetric mapping was undertaken in seven survey areas, including: Freycinet Pensinula (83 sq km, east coast and shelf); Tasman Peninsula (117 sq km, east coast and shelf); Port Arthur and adjacent open coast (17 sq km); The Friars (41 sq km, south of Bruny Island); lower Huon River estuary (39 sq km); D Entrecastreaux Channel (7 sq km, at Tinderbox north of Bruny Island), and; Maria Island (3 sq km, western side). Video characterisations of the seabed concentrated on areas of bedrock reef and adjacent seabed in all mapped areas, except for D Entrecastreaux Channel and Maria Island. Seabed sediment samples were collected by TAFI in August 2010 in a targeted area to the east of Tasman Peninsula. Samples were collected at 25 stations using a Van Veen grab, from which a 50 - 100 g sub-sample was taken and submitted to Geoscience Australia for analysis. This dataset is a contribution to the CERF Marine Biodiversity Hub.

Distribution and abundance of seagrass, mangrove and saltmarsh in NSW estuaries. This dataset is ongoing. This record describes a snapshot of the data taken in February 2023 for use in the Seamap Australia project. A more recent version of the dataset may be available through the NSW DPI Fisheries Data Portal. Marmion Hydrology and Nutrient Data 1979-1982

This dataset contains temperature, salinity and nutrient data collected off Marmion, Perth, Western Australia between June 1979 and June 1982. 33 surveys were carried out at approximately monthly intervals on transects and/or grid surveys in this region. Nutrients measured comprise nitrate, reactive silicate, inorganic phosphate, nitrite, and dissolved organic phosphate (DOP). Observations on weather conditions and water quality accompany the printed version of the data. The surveys were undertaken to obtain baseline information for the Division of Fisheries & Oceanography Coastal Ecology research program established at Marmion in the late 1970s. Full listings of the surveys and results are presented in the documentation. The locations of the sampling stations are indicated in the attached map (see "Links" section).

This record describes data collected for the 2013 report "Synthesis of seagrass mapping studies conducted by the Water Science Branch of the Department of Water", and collected more recently by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation ongoing monitoring. This project record provides linkage to each of metadata records describing seagrass data collected from the 11 study areas: Beaufort Inlet (2009), Hardy Inlet (2008), Irwin Inlet (2009), Leschenault Estuary (2009), Oyster Harbour (1988, 1996, 2006), Princess Royal Harbour (1996, 2006) Stokes Inlet (2009), Swan Canning (2011), Walpole Nornalup Inlets (2009), Wellstead Estuary (2009), Wilson Inlet (2007, 2008). Additional monitoring data is available from the WA DWER seagrass group via https://data.wa.gov.au for the following study areas: Leschenault Estuary (2014-2023), Peel Harvey Estuary (2021), Hardy Inlet (2018, 2020, 2023), Wilson Inlet (2017-2022), Wilson Inlet (2017-2022), Oyster Harbour (2019, 2021), Princess Royal Harbour (2021).
