Data on marine mammal strandings are collected by the Southeast Marine Mammal Stranding Network. Basic data on the location, species identification, animal condition, and disposition (Level A data) are contributed by network members to the NOAA National Marine Mammal Stranding Database. Historical data collected prior to 2001 in the Southeast US and Caribbean and associated paper records are maintained in local databases. These data document the occurrence of stranded marine mammals throughout the southeastern United States.

Data on the geographical and temporal movements of Humpback Whales in Western Australian Waters.

This dataset comprises summaries of sight and resight data compiled for the NESP MBH project A13 and derived from data housed in the Australian Right Whale Photo Identification Catalogue (ARWPIC) and associated effort summaries. These summaries have been compiled as part of an analysis of mark recapture information in establishing trends in the population and spatial connectivity of individuals across southern Australia. The summaries are based on original sightings data collected across 1990-2018 by ARWPIC partners. The ARWPIC is housed at the Australian Antarctic Division and managed by the Australian Marine Mammal Centre.

These data sets include a compilation of small vessel based studies of bottlenose dolphins that reside within Mississippi Sound and nearshore coastal waters. The data consist primarily of photo-identification studies that use natural markings on animal dorsal fins to identify individuals over time. Surveys consist of line transects aboard small boats with concentrated effort to collect photographs of individuals. These photographs are reviewed to identify and catalog individual animals. In addition, several targeted studies have been conducted within this program to collect tissue biopsy samples for genetic and contaminant analyses. These data are used to examine demographic structure and population dynamics of the Mississippi Sound stock of bottlenose dolphins.

This data set contains biological information on sperm and humpback whales processed at Cheynes Beach Whaling Station between 1952 and 1963. Biological variables include date of catch; location of catch; species caught; sex of catch; reproductive status; body length; and total body lipid. The data was sourced from the State Records Office of Western Australia www.sro.wa.gov.au The original records are in raw hand-written data sheets which were photographed and digitised into an excel spreadsheet.
