Brimbin National Park Vegetation 2002. VIS ID 1172
Vegetation community mapping for Brimbin Nature Reserve and surrounds by Paul McDonald, 2002. This area covered the existing Brimbin NR and additional Freehold areas adjoining the NR, some of which are under consideration for purchase. Traditional API methodology was used to complete this job across five reserves for the Manning Area, Mid North Coast NPWS Region:; 1.Brimbin Nature Reserve and adjoining freehold lands.; 2.Coxcomb NR and Anderson VCA.; 3.Khatambuhl NR; 4.Two sections of Killabakh NR ; 5.Freehold purchase area on northwest corner of Goonook NR, around Mount Goonook.; The project consisted of fieldwork where possible and then interpretation of the photos to define the species types present. Some follow up fieldwork was undertaken.; Rather than assign a species type label to each polygon on the area, the polygon was given a number from 1 to n, for each area. A table for the area has a description of each polygon. VIS_ID 1172.

This data describes the coverage and composition of bryophytes and other ground cover within Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge on Hawaii Island. This study aims to evaluate the role of bryophytes in seedling recruitment and thus forest regeneration in different forest types. We compared bryophyte composition and coverage between tree species (Acacia koa and Metrosideros polymorpha) and forest types (intact forest and restoration forest) and then sampled native woody seedling recruitment in the bryophytes as well as other ground covers, such as leaf litter, bare soil, and exotic grass.

A 30 meter integer grid derived from USGS GAP data published in 2010 of sagebrush land cover within 120 meters of conifer land cover. It is one of several inputs used in the BLM FIAT analysis completed March 2015. FIAT was developed using a process designed to identify strategies that ameliorate threats to Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG; Centrocercus urophasianus) and their habitats. While the assessment is applicable across the range of sage-grouse, the analysis is limited to Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Management Agencies’(WAFWA) Management Zones III, IV, and V (roughly the Great Basin region) because of the significant issues associated with invasive annual grasses and the high level of wildfires in this region. It incorporates emerging science, regional findings, and local data in identifying management opportunities that counter detrimental ecological trends in wildfire, invasive annual grasses, and conifer expansion. The purpose of the assessment is to identify potential project areas and management strategies in highly valued greater sage-grouse habitats which, if implemented, would reduce the threats to greater sage-grouse.

However, the map extent for sage-grouse key habitat and potential restoration areas should be considered provisional, contingent on the final outcome of additional analyses currently underway in association with the national Greater Sage-grouse Conservation Strategy. This data set contains simple, landscape-scale greater sage-grouse habitat types for Idaho and constitutes a current approximation of sage-grouse habitat in the state. The data can be used for general conservation and restoration planning purposes, but additional data or field verification are needed for applications at finer scales. The habitat types include: (1) key sage-grouse habitat areas and (2) four habitat restoration types: (a) R1 - perennial native and non-native grasslands with high restoration potential; (b) R2 - annual grass dominated areas (either shrubland or grassland) with low restoration potential; (c) R3 - conifer encroachment areas with high restoration potential and (d) RB - areas that have recently burned and the type of habitat that is coming back and its restoration potential has not yet been determined. Beginning in 2015, the NA class was included to track areas that were previously identified as habitat but were removed due to vegetation type or terrain (eg. stands of existing timber on North-facing slopes). A new data set will be developed annually to update the planning map and chart landscape-level changes in sage-grouse habitat over time. Edits may also document refinements discovered through inventory, monitoring and modeling. This data covers all of Idaho and a small area in Nevada that is managed by Idaho BLM. Intended scale of use is 1:100,000. This dataset is not synonymous with BLM's "Preliminary Priority Habitat" or "Preliminary General Habitat" mapping efforts, as those incorporate additional habitat and sage-grouse population data or models.

Brigalow Belt Bioregion Spatial BioCondition, 2021, Version 2.0

This is a spatial dataset comprising predictions of vegetation condition for biodiversity for the Brigalow Belt bioregion. The dataset was created using a gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) model based on 10 vegetation-specific remote sensing datasets and 7,938 training sites of known vegetation community and condition state across Southeast Queensland, Brigalow Belt and Central Queensland Coast bioregions. Condition score was modelled as a function of distance in the remote sensing (RS) space within homogeneous vegetation communities. The product is intended to represent predicted BioCondition for 2021 rather than any singe date.
