Groundcover Data
These data were collected as part of the NSW Grazing Study. A range of methods employed to characterise the groundcover at each of the 451 sites. An estimate of the percentage groundcover in five (5m x 5m) quadrats into the following categories; vascular plants, bare soil, litter (including an estimate of the percentage derived from groundstorey plants), biological soil crusts (e.g. cryptogams). Enumeration of the lineal metres of coarse woody debris (diameter >10cm) in five (5m x 5m) quadrats The size and abundance of perennial grasses. In five (5m x 5m) quadrats a count of the total abundance and diameter at base of twenty grass butts.

Vegetation Stratum Cover Data

These data were collected as part of the NSW Grazing Study. An assessment of the foliage cover of each stratum at each of the 451 sites. Each 2m along a linear transect (200m) cover of groundstorey vegetation (less than 50cm), shrubs/midstorey (50cm to 4m) and overstorey (greater than 4m) was estimated.

This data set consists of land cover classification data derived from satellite imagery as part of the Cloud and Land Surface Interaction Campaign 2007 (CLASIC07). ResourceSat-1 AWiFS images of the study area were retrieved for the period of April through August 2007. The land use classification image provides information about vegetation present in the study area at a resolution of 56 meters.
