Performance Based Standards (PBS) Level 2B A-Double Networks
This is the Tasmanian road network that has been assessed for 30m long A-double Performance Base Standards (PBS) Level 2B Heavy Vehicles operating at gross mass between 68.5 tonnes and 85.5 tonnes. The accessibility on the roads and bridges has been divided into 3 categories: Approved, Conditionally Approved and Restricted. Four PBS classification levels exist (1 to 4), with the PBS 2B classification describing PBS vehicle combinations longer than 26m and up to 30m in length and complying with PBS 2 performance criteria. The PBS scheme is administered by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and provides the freight industry opportunity to innovate with vehicle design to improve productivity and achieve safer performance while minimising impact on the environment and road infrastructure. PBS vehicles are designed, built and assessed against stringent safety and infrastructure standards to ensure they are safe and fit for use on road networks that are appropriate for their level of performance.
