This dataset identifies the boundaries of the 6 areas listed in the Ramsar Convention for South Australia. All wetlands within these areas are of international importance are are protected by the Ramsar Convention. The listed areas for SA include: Bool Lagoon, Coongie Lakes, Coorong and Lakes Albert and Alexandrina, Riverland, the Banrock Station Wetland Complex and Piccaninnie Ponds Karst Wetlands.

The Ramsar Sites dataset defines the official boundaries of current and proposed Western Australia Ramsar wetlands listed as Wetlands of International Importance, under the Ramsar Convention. This dataset is polygon based. The attributes provided the official Ramsar site name, Ramsar site number (i.e. Ref Code), Ramsar site status (i.e. “Existing” or “DRAFT Proposed Area”) as well as the area in hectares of the entire site and individual components. This is a publicly available dataset.

The LIST Ramsar Wetlands data set contains boundaries of the 10 existing sites in the State of Tasmania included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance as follows: Moulting Lagoon; Logan Lagoon; Lavinia; Pittwater-Orielton Lagoon; Apsley Marshes; East Coast-Cape Barren Island Lagoons; Flood Plain Lower Ringarooma River; Jocks Lagoon; Interlaken; Little Waterhouse Lake. Sites are attributed with a name, Central Plan Register (CPR) number, and REFCODE3 which is its unique reference number listed in 'A Directory of Important Wetlands in Australia'. LIST Ramsar Wetlands are a layer of The LIST Cadastral Area.

The Ramsar Convention is an inter-governmental treaty that embodies the commitments of its member countries to maintain the ecological character of their Wetlands of International Importance. Environment and Heritage Group is responsible for managing the majority of Ramsar wetlands in NSW including: Blue Lake (in Kosciuszko NP), Gwydir Wetlands (part only - Gwydir Wetlands SCA), Hunter Estuary Wetlands (Kooragang component), Lake Pinaroo (in Sturt NP), Little Llangothlin NR, Macquarie Marshes (Macquarie Marshes NR component), Myall Lakes, Narran Lakes, NSW Central Murray State Forests (Millewa Forests and Werai Forests components), Paroo River Wetlands, owra Point NR and Carypundy Swamp. Ramsar Wetlands on other tenures include Fivebough and Tuckerbil Swamps (Crown land), Gwydir Wetlands (freehold land - Crinolyn, Windella and Godddard's Lease components), Hunter Estuary Wetlands (Hunter Wetlands Centre Australia component), Macquarie Marshes (Wilgara and U-block components), and NSW Central Murray State Forests (Koondrook Forests component).
