RV Investigator Voyage IN2017 E03 EM122 Multibeam Echosounder Data
This record describes multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2017_E03, Equipment Commissioning Sea Trials, which departed Brisbane on the 20th August 2017 and returned to Brisbane on the 24th of August 2017. The Kongsberg EM122 multibeam echosounder was used to acquire seafloor bathymetry and backscatter information off the coast of Brisbane. The EM122 provides a 1 degree by 1 degree angular resolution. The echosounder's nominal frequency is 12 kHz. Data are stored in *.all raw format for bathymetry and backscatter at CSIRO. There are 69 files totaling 1.25 GB of raw data in this dataset. A patch test calibration was performed during this voyage to obtain roll, pitch and yaw calibration values. Sound velocity profiles were applied to this data during data acquisition. Bathymetry data contained in *.all format are corrected for motion and position. Tide corrections were not applied to the processed data. Processed data had outliers removed. Processed line data are available in *.gsf and ascii format, and processed bathymetry and backscatter grids in geotiff format. Ping rate varied according to depth. Data are stored in *.all raw format at CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere. There are 62 files totaling 1.6 GB of raw data in this dataset. Sound velocity profiles using sea surface temperature were applied to this data during data acquisition. Tide corrections were not applied to the processed data. Due to the shallow nature of the inshore site and the duration of this survey over several tides, tide corrections will need to be applied from AusTides or from the data from the Triabunna tidal station.
