SA Heritage Places indicates the spatial location of State Heritage Places from the South Australian Heritage Register (see the Heritage Resister for more information), Local Heritage Places and Contributory Items from council development plans. Information about each heritage place includes: the land parcel associated with each heritage place/item; description, criteria for listing; address, plan/parcel/title, Local Government Area, development plan name. SA Heritage Places is available as spatial layers in point (centroid of the heritage place) and polygon (indicative footprint of the heritage place) format. This dataset contains the spatial layers in point form. The State Register of Heritage Places recognises a place's value and importance to Western Australia. It includes buildings, structures, gardens, cemeteries, landscapes and archaeological sites and has more than 1,300 places listed in it. The State Register is managed by the Heritage Council and provides a place with statutory protection to ensure that any proposed demolition, relocation, subdivision, amalgamation, alteration, addition or new development is in harmony with its cultural heritage values. The State Register continues to expand, as significant places yet to be registered are progressively assessed by the Council.
