Geospatial and Data Services Manager - Seawater Interface Elev Superficial Aq – Cockburn Area Contours (DWER-133)
This dataset shows the geographic location and elevation of the seawater interface (~10,000 us/cm) within the Superficial aquifer, in Cockburn groundwater area. This dataset is a derived location based on an assessment of data for the period 2018 to 2019. This location can change pending known factors that impact the location of the seawater interface including the time of year, tidal movements, abstraction, recharge and throughflow. The full assessment of the seawater interface in this area, including detailed methods is documented in report: Puthiaparampil J, Brandes de Roos I & Ryan SA, 2024, Cockburn seawater interface – Priority Area Assessment under the State groundwater investigation program, Hydrogeological Report Series HR443, Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, Western Australia. This dataset is sourced from the Statewide seawater interface project, funded by the Government of Western Australia under the State Groundwater Investigation Program. The data used in this layer is owned by the department can be downloaded from the Water Information Reporting (WIR) Portal or by contacting the Department. This dataset shows the geographic location and depth to the seawater interface (SWI) in metres below groundwater level (mBGWL) in the Superficial Aquifer, in the Esperance groundwater area. This dataset is a derived location based on an assessment of data for the period November 2020 to November 2021. The 2016 Interpretation of TEMPEST Airbourne Electromagnetic Data from Esperance (Mira Geoscience) was also used in creating this dataset. This location can change pending known factors that impact the location of the seawater interface including the time of year, tidal movements, abstraction, recharge and throughflow. The full assessment of the SWI in this area is documented in report HR437 Esperance Seawater Interface Priority Area Assessment. This dataset is sourced from the Statewide Seawater Interface Project, funded by the Government of Western Australia under the State Groundwater Investigation Program. In the Esperance area, the project runs from April 2020 to March 2023 and the data are collected from: - Seawater interface monitoring (SWIM) bores installed or owned by the department - Downhole natural gamma and induction logging - Installation of data loggers and continuous static groundwater level (SWL) measurements from data loggers - Electrical conductivity (EC) depth profiling - Groundwater chemistry sampling. - Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey. The above data that is owned by the department can be downloaded from the Water Information Reporting (WIR) Portal or by contacting the Department. AEM survey data can be downloaded via the interactive geological map tool GeoVIEW.WA from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Information on the SWI project can be found on the Western Australia State Government website (www.wa.gov.au).

This dataset shows the distribution of fresh and saline water 10 m below the water table in the Superficial aquifer, in the Esperance groundwater area. Salinity categories are not defined further than 6,000 mg/L which has been used to represent the saltwater interface. This dataset is a derived location based on an assessment of data for the period November 2020 to November 2021. This monitoring supports a comprehensive understanding of the state's water assets and underpins evidence-based decision-making for both regulatory and resource management purposes. Please note that the dataset presents only summary-level attribute information for each site. It does not include all available data, which may encompass individual measurements such as water depth, stream height, water quality, rainfall, and bore details including construction, lithology, and stratigraphy. Hydrographic and Impairment Statistics Database: SAND

Hydrographic and Impairment Statistics (HIS) is a National Park Service (NPS) Water Resources Division (WRD) project established to track certain goals created in response to the Government Performance and Results Act of 1993 (GPRA). One water resources management goal established by the Department of the Interior under GRPA requires NPS to track the percent of its managed surface waters that are meeting Clean Water Act (CWA) water quality standards. This goal requires an accurate inventory that spatially quantifies the surface water hydrography that each bureau manages and a procedure to determine and track which waterbodies are or are not meeting water quality standards as outlined by Section 303(d) of the CWA. This project helps meet this DOI GRPA goal by inventorying and monitoring in a geographic information system for the NPS: (1) CWA 303(d) quality impaired waters and causes; and (2) hydrographic statistics based on the United States Geological Survey (USGS) National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). Hydrographic and 303(d) impairment statistics were evaluated based on a combination of 1:24,000 (NHD) and finer scale data (frequently provided by state GIS layers).
Geospatial and Data Services Manager - WRIMS - Surface Water Subareas (DWER-080)

Surface Water subareas stored in WRIMS (Water Resource Information Management System). Surface Water Allocation Subareas for Western Australia were derived in consultation with the regional offices, and geometry is based on hydrographic catchments. Regional Department of Water and Environmental Regulation officers identified areas of similar management requirements to define boundaries or aggregations of hydrographic subcatchments. Regions with notable management concerns both currently and possibly in the future were identified to become management subareas. Allocation subareas will be used in the calculation of sustainable yields, flow rates and ultimately these calculations will be available for water allocation and natural resource management decisions. In addition, native vegetation clearing values have been calculated for each of the subareas located within the extent of the South-West region of Western Australia, for input into the allocation process. The Surface Water subarea data was developed in order to give a clear understanding of surface water availability and to provide management tools to make good water allocation and natural resources management decisions.
