Utilising both fishery independent and industry dependent surveys, spatial and temporal data was collected on scallop, and other bethnic community, abundance. The dataset also includes dredge video surveys and, in some instances, bycatch abundance.

Dive surveys using strip transects are used to determine species composition, size structure and abundance of scallops, with surveys conducted pre- and/or post fishing season. In addition, post season telephone surveys of recreational scallop dive licence-holders are conducted to collect information about scallop diving activity (including days fished, location and success), and a range of management-related issues (eg. attitudes to management options, communication strategies).

Snook (Sphyraena novaehollandiae) commercial catch (in tonnes), commercial effort (in number of days fished), and commercial Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE, in kg/day fished) by fishing season per NRE scalefish fishery fishing block for all gear types combined. The dataset was provided by the Tasmanian Wild Fisheries Assessments team at IMAS. Tasmanian wild fisheries stock assessments are conducted by the Fisheries and Aquaculture Centre of the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) on behalf of the Tasmanian Department of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE Tas). Under the Sustainable Marine Research Collaboration Agreement (SMRCA), IMAS conduct fishery assessments, provide expert management advice and undertake scientific research on Tasmanian fisheries issues for NRE Tas.

Landings surveys of bycatch of Solegnathus assessed from interviews with fishers in important fishing ports of NSW and Victoria, ranging from the Brunswick-Byron co-op to Portland in Victoria.

A study of the scallop resources, advection and settlement of P fumatus in Bass Strait was carried out in Bass Strait and Great Oyster Bay on a series of cruises from 1986 to 1992. Scallop growth and reproduction were also analysed. Vessels used included Merindah Pearl and Dell Richey. Additional data identified in June 2015. See TRIM references in stored data location.

Data was collected on the FRV Southern Surveyor cruise SS 02/97 to define bycatch from prawn trawlers around the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria from Cairns to Darwin in 20-40m depth.

The datasets contain summaries of Tasmania Natural Resources and Environment logbook data on catch and effort distribution for Tasmanian commercial fisheries in state marine and estuarine waters. The logbook data has been recorded and submitted to NRE by commercial fishers. The data are aggregated to produce summaries of total catch and effort by fishery at a 5 degree resolution where 5 boats or more operate. For areas where less than 5 boats operate the data is shown as confidential. The data was mapped using 5 year - financial year periods; 2003/04 to 2007/08, 2008/09 to 2012/13, 2018/19 to 2022/23, and 1 year; 2022/23.
