The geology of the Rye Park district
An area of approximately 32 square miles in the vicinity of Rye Park has been mapped in greater detail than that of previous regional surveys. Three possible tungsten-bearing areas have been delineated as warranting magnetometric and plane-table surveys. An extension of each of these three areas is indicated. Attention is drawn to copper, tin, silver, lead, and zinc mineralisation of the area, and it is considered that there are possibilities of finding payable orebodies containing these metals.

The geology of an area surrounding the Fergusson railway siding, Northern Territory

The area covered by this investigation, totalling approximately 100 square miles, surrounds an occurrence of radio-active minerals which was discovered in 1950. The deposit is 30 feet east of the Stuart Highway, 21 miles south-east of Pine Creek, Northern Territory, and 40 miles north-west of Katherine. It is one third of a mile north-east of the Fergusson railways siding. Mapping of the area was undertaken consequent upon an examination of the Fergusson River Crossing Deposit by H.J. Ward in September 1950 and by Ward and R.S. Matheson in November 1950. Although the prospect itself was not considered to warrant further work, it was thought that further occurrences might exist in the area, particularly along the shear which had localized the known deposit. Mapping and prospecting of the area was therefore recommended. This report records the results of that investigation.
Geophysical survey of the Rye Park scheelite deposit

In October, 1951, the Geological Section of the Bureau of Mineral Resources recommended a geophysical survey at the newly-developed Rye Park tungsten deposit. The purpose of the survey was the delineation of the main mineralised areas around a granite cupola. The geology of the area, survey methods, and field operations are described in this report. The result of the survey and of diamond drill hole testing are discussed.
Geology of the south zone deposits, Jason property, Macmillan Pass area, Yukon

Mineralized zones on the Jason property are stratifrom, sediment hosed Pb-Zn-barite deposits that occur in a Late Devonian age marine carbonaceous shale and turbidite sequence. The Jason Property is located 400 km northeast of Whitehorse near Macmillan Pass on the Canol Road. Since the discovery of mineralization in 1975, eighty-nine diamond drill holes have delineated three mineral deposits. In order of their discovery, they are known as the Main, South and End zones. Geological reserves indicated and inferred for the three zones total 14.1 million tonnes averaging 7.1% Pb, 6.6% Zn and 79.9 g/t Ag. The following questions are the focus of the study:: 1) What is the stratigraphic position and setting of the South zone? 2) What is the geological relationship of the South zone to the Main zone? 3) What is the geometry of the South zone? 4) How can the mineralization in the South zone be described in terms of mineralogical and textural facies? 5) What constraints on the processes of ore formation can be demonstrated by utilizing the above studies?
Geophysical investigation of the copper-nickel deposits, North Dundas field, near Zeehan, Tasmania

In response to applications by the Tasmanian Department of Mines and the interested company, Eagle Metal and Industrial Products Pty. Ltd., Tasmania, a geophysical investigation, including self-potential, electromagnetic and magnetic surveys, has been made over the copper-nickel deposits of the North Dundas Field, situated about 5 miles north-east of Zeehan, Tasmania. The nickel ore occurs in the foot-wall of north-striking ultrabasic dykes. The ore shoots already worked had proved very rich but quite small. Important results were obtained in the Cuni North Area only. Conductive indications which appear to be due to mineralization extend over a length of 800 to 1000 feet. The line of mineralization is intersected by cross faults. Drilling targets for five short diamond drillholes are given. Further exploration should be confined mainly to this area. The geophysical results indicate that mineralization farther south is limited in extent and perhaps of no economic interest.
Geophysical survey at Silver Valley, Copeton, New South Wales

This report describes a geophysical survey made in May 1952 and August 1953 at the Silver Valley mine workings, near Inverell, N.S.W. From the workings there is evidence of mineralisation along a well-defined fissure and one ore shoot has already been partly developed. The survey was made in an attempt to locate other ore shoots of sufficient size to warrant mining operations. Self-potential, magnetic and electromagnetic methods were used in the survey. The self-potential method showed a well-defined anomaly on the eastern extension of the fissure, indicating that a small body of sulphides may exist there with its centre about 300 feet east of the known ore shoot. The magnetic and electromagnetic results showed no pronounced anomalies which could be correlated with any defined ore shoot. Recommendations are made as to how the self-potential anomaly could best be tested. These comprise sinking a shaft at the centre of the anomaly, extending an existing adit, or driving a new adit from a point nearer the anomaly.
