Data derived from the Natural Values Atlas consisting primarily of point locations (Eastings and Northings) and associated attributes for flora and fauna in Tasmania. The data set contains information on more than 20,000 Tasmanian species. The web-based interface allows observations of Tasmanian plants and animals to be viewed, recorded and analysed. Users can search for observations of species by name, location, date, person, project, source, site, populations or groups such as plants, animals or threatened species. Habitat mapping is also available for a limited number of high priority fauna species. The NVA maintains species taxonomy and provides access to management documents such as listing statements and recovery plans. Additional attribute information is also stored within the NVA, including species values for conservation significance as well as project specific data. Natural Values Reports are available and include several natural resource management data sets such as threatened species, Geoconservation and TASVEG. The NVA also stores environmental management locations that include areas where activities to control, monitor, manage or maintain natural values have been undertaken. Examples include 1080 baits, traps, nest boxes and monitoring plots.

Map of 35 NSW-listed threatened ecological communities (TECs) within Greater Sydney. The map is derived from a number of best available mapping products and expert input. While the distribution of a number of TECs extends beyond Greater Sydney, their distribution beyond the study area is not represented in this map, with two exceptions: the Blue Mountains Basalt Forest and Pittwater and Wagstaffe Spotted Gum Forest TECs. The methodology and scale of best available sources used to derive the map vary, with concomitant variation in currency, coverage, spatial precision and attribution accuracy. There are known gaps in coverage due to the lack of mapping sources in some locations within the study area (including, but not limited to the Grose Valley near Wollangambe, Ebenezer, Cattai, west of Mulgoa and west of Thirlmere). Limitations of this map include: areas not identified as TEC may be TEC, areas identified as TEC may not be TEC, and areas identified as a TEC may be a different TEC. Accordingly, property-scale assessments should inform activities, plans and proposals at the property scale. Mapping is updated frequently via expert input. The map data informs the Biodiversity Values Map, Native Vegetation Regulatory Map, Rural Fire Service 10/50 tool and High Environmental Values Greater Sydney map. The number of flora species listed as threatened (‘vulnerable’, ‘endangered’ or ‘extinct in the wild’) in Queensland increased by 275 between 2007 and 2015.

Sixty-eight major threats have previously been identified that impact on Queensland threatened fauna. The threats affecting the most species are ‘inappropriate fire regimes’, ‘clearing of vegetation’, ‘introduced predators’ and ‘inappropriate grazing regimes’. The impacts associated with climate change has also been identified as a major factor in fauna species persistence in Queensland.

This data was used by the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment to produce Figure 13 in the Biodiversity chapter of Australia State of the Environment 2021
