The data is estimated resident populations (ERP non-ABS) developed by Prometheus Information, 2015 (all entries that were classified as not shown, not published or not applicable were assigned a null value; no data was provided for Maralinga Tjarutja LGA, in South Australia). This dataset, released in June 2019, contains the Aboriginal population as a percentage of the total usual resident population, 2016. The data is by Population Health Area (PHA) 2016 geographic boundaries based on the 2016 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). Population Health Areas, developed by PHIDU, are comprised of a combination of whole SA2s and multiple (aggregates of) SA2s, where the SA2 is an area in the ABS structure. For more information please see the data source notes on the data. Source: Compiled by PHIDU based on the ABS Census of Population and Housing, August 2016. AURIN has spatially enabled the original data. Data that was not shown/not applicable/not published/not available for the specific area ('#', '..', '^', 'np, 'n.a.', 'n.y.a.' in original PHIDU data) was removed.It has been replaced by by Blank cells. For other keys and abbreviations refer to PHIDU Keys.

Local Government Area (LGA) based data for Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) 1986 Census of Population and Housing. Census counts were based on place of usual residence which excludes overseas visitors, Australians overseas, and adjustments for under-enumeration. The data is by LGA 1986 boundaries. Periodicity: 5-Yearly. This data is used with permission from the ABS. The tabular data was supplied to AURIN by the Australian Data Archives. The cleaned, high resolution 1986 geographic boundaries (cat. no. 1261.0.30.001) are available from Data.gov.au. For more information please refer to the 1986 Census Dictionary (cat. no. 2102.0).

Count of occupied private dwellings. Excludes 'Visitors only' and 'Other non-classifiable' households. Persons usually resident includes up to three residents who were temporarily absent on Census Night. A household with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person(s) is any household that had at least one person of any age as a resident at the time of the Census who identified as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin. This spreadsheet contains data items for the local government area (LGA) profiles. Most data items include a rate for each LGA and a ranking of the LGA's score compared with other LGAs. Data is also provided for Department of Health regions and rural and metro Victoria. Modelling GIS and Planning products produces statistical profiles of geographic areas to facilitate service planning and policy development by enabling access to a broad range of data about each geographic area. The geographic profiles currently available on this website are Local Government Area Profiles 2011.
