This layer is part of Vicmap Lite and contains polygon features delineating local government areas. Vicmap Lite datasets are suited for use between scales of 1: 250,000 and 1 : 5 million. The polygons were sourced from Vicmap Admin. The level of attribute information and the number of vertices has been simplified to suit the 1: 250,000 - 1 : 5 million scale range. The concept of a Scale Use Code has been introduced to help control the level of detail displayed. THIS DATASET WAS LAST UPDATED IN JUNE 2021

The WARD_2017 data set of Victorian local government ward boundaries was created by the Victorian Electoral Commission on behalf of Local Government Victoria as part of the Electoral Representation Review process (www.vec.vic.gov.au/repreviews). NOTE: This dataset was superceded by WARD_2020 in August 2020, and was withdrawn in January 2021 from the Vicmap Admin product.
