Federal Witness Protection Program - Annual Reports
The Witness Protection Program Act gives the Commissioner of the RCMP the responsibility to promote law enforcement, national security, national defense and public safety by facilitating the protection of persons who are at risk of harm due to their assistance or their relationship with someone who provides such assistance. The annual report strives to provide as much information as possible to the Canadian public without impacting the effectiveness and security of the Program.

Protecting Specified Information is of paramount importance to Government of Canada (GC) departments and agencies and can directly impact the GC’s ability to successfully conduct its essential missions and functions. This publication provides GC departments and agencies with recommended security requirements for protecting the confidentiality of specified information when it resides in non-GC systems and organizations. These requirements apply to the components of non-GC systems that handle, process, store or transmit CI, or that provide protection for such components. The security requirements are intended for use by GC departments and agencies in contractual vehicles or other agreements established between those departments and agencies and non-GC organizations.
