Northern marine coastal and ecosystem studies in the Canadian Beaufort Sea—water quality data
The objective of this project was to gather data to develop a model of the food web of the lower trophic levels of the nearshore area of the Beaufort Sea. Sampling took place from 2005 to 2008 using the CCGS Nahidik. The multidisciplinary character of the Nahidik program produced measurements of biology/ecology (primary production, phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthos, fish), chemical and physical oceanography, contaminants, geology and hydro acoustics. The data were collected in July and August of each year. The Nahidik program provided data to provide a baseline for future studies as well as an information source for environmental assessment. This record contains water chemistry data collected as part of this project including suspended nitrogen, dissolved nitrogen, suspended phosphorus, dissolved phosphorus, dissolved organic carbon, suspended carbon, chlorophyll a, and suspended silicon.

Ecosystem monitoring information collected from Norseman II in Beaufort Sea for the ANIMIDA III project from 2014-07-31 to 2015-08-12 (NCEI Accession 0162530)
공공데이터포털
This dataset contains physical, chemical, and biological data collected during research cruises for the Arctic Nearshore Impact Monitoring in Development Area (ANIMIDA) III Study. The study occurred at 107 stations in the Beaufort Sea area in July and August of 2014 and 2015, and involved measurements and sampling of water, sediment, and biota conducted by investigators from several universities and research organizations. The study also includes a spring river survey conducted in May, 2015. The dataset includes more than 50,000 data values across 300+ variables, 500+ taxonomic names, 20+ collection methods, and 40+ lab analysis methods. Seawater samples include variables such as salinity, total suspended solids, and dissolved elements. Samples from the benthic zone include taxonomic counts and biomass. Sediment samples include variables such as hydrocarbons, metals, grain size distribution, and stable isotope ratios. All samples include numerical data value, date of sample collection, location in latitude and longitude coordinates, station identifier, sampling method, and the researcher responsible for the measurement. Furthermore, these data were harmonized according to a community driven set of controlled vocabularies for variable names, chemical speciations, units of measure, sample mediums, and sample types maintained by the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. The data are accompanied by an entity relationship diagram and data dictionary explaining the data structure. CTD, ADCP, and thermosalinograph sensor data are also provided following NCEI's netCDF templates for such data.
Coastal Environmental Baseline Program
공공데이터포털
Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s (DFO) Coastal Environmental Baseline Program supports the collection of ecological information on the current state of key coastal ecosystems across Canada. This initiative aims to acquire environmental baseline data (physical, chemical and biological) contributing to the characterization of important coastal areas and to support evidence-based assessments and management decisions for preserving marine ecosystems. From this page, you will find links to the data from projects undertaken from 2018-2022 at six coastal sites across Canada.
Physical, chemical, and biological data collected in the Beaufort Sea as part of the Arctic Nearshore Impact Monitoring in the Development Area (ANIMIDA) from 1999 to 2007 (NCEI Accession 0001921)
공공데이터포털
This data contains information specifically for the Arctic Nearshore Impact Monitoring in the Development Area (ANIMIDA 1999 - 2002) and continuation of Arctic Nearshore Impact Monitoring in the Development Area (cANIMIDA 2004 - 2007) programs in the Alaskan Beaufort Sea. Minerals Management Service (MMS) initiated these studies to characterize the pre and post construction environmental impacts surrounding the offshore oil development and production activities in this area. The data encompasses the following areas from 1999 thru 2007: 1) Hydrocarbon and Metal characterization of sediments. Sediments were collected and analyzed for a variety of parameters including Organics (PAH, SHC, and S/T), Grain size, TOC, trace metals and radionuclides (Pb210 and Cs137). 2) Sources, Concentrations and dispersion pathways for suspended sediment, and 3) Partitioning of potential contaminants between dissolved and particulate phases. These two tasks focused on suspended sediments and the dissolved / particulates in the water column in fresh and salt water and ice cores. The study analyzed for both chemical and physical parameters that included insitu CTD measurements, POC, DOC, trace and major metals. 4) Biomonitoring and bioaccumulation of contaminants in biota. The biota studied included amphipods, isopods, clams, fish, mussels and SPMD. These tissues were analyzed for metals, PAH, PAH exposure biomarkers (cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1a) and bile fluorescent aromatic compounds (FAC)). 5) Monitoring the Boulder patch area. This area of the program studied the benthic community and kelp biomass. Parameters of interest included: PAR, light attenuation, TSS, kelp productivity and biomass and benthic faunal diversity. Additional analysis for water column chlorophyll, nutrients and CTD parameters were also conducted.
