Seasonal salinity climatology of the Canadian Pacific Exclusive Economic Zone from BCCM model (1981-2010)
Description: Seasonal mean salinity from the British Columbia continental margin model (BCCM) were averaged over the 1981 to 2010 period to create seasonal mean climatology of the Canadian Pacific Exclusive Economic Zone. Methods: Salinities at up to forty-six linearly interpolated vertical levels from surface to 2400 m and at the sea bottom are included. Spring months were defined as April to June, summer months were defined as July to September, fall months were defined as October to December, and winter months were defined as January to March. The data available here contain raster layers of seasonal salinity climatology for the Canadian Pacific Exclusive Economic Zone at 3 km spatial resolution and 47 vertical levels. Uncertainties: Model results have been extensively evaluated against observations (e.g. altimetry, CTD and nutrient profiles, observed geostrophic currents), which showed the model can reproduce with reasonable accuracy the main oceanographic features of the region including salient features of the seasonal cycle and the vertical and cross-shore gradient of water properties. However, the model resolution is too coarse to allow for an adequate representation of inlets, nearshore areas, and the Strait of Georgia.

Circumpolar ROMS climatology
공공데이터포털
Model output from a circumpolar realisation of the Regional Ocean Modelling System (ROMS). Model was run at a horizontal resolution of 1/4 degree and 31 vertical levels. Spatial domain was circumpolar out to 30 degrees South. Forcing comes from prescribed salt and heat fluxes based on a derived climatology from Tamura et al (2008). For open water regions the Tamura data is blended with open-water heat, salt and surface stress fluxes from a monthly NCEP2 climatology.
World Ocean Atlas 2023 - objectively analyzed in situ temperature and salinity climatologies for the 1991-2020 climate normal period (NCEI Accession 0270533)
공공데이터포털
The World Ocean Atlas 2023 (WOA23) climate normals of temperature and salinity are a set of objectively analyzed (one degree grid and quarter degree grid) climatological fields of in situ temperature and salinity at standard depth levels for annual, seasonal, and monthly compositing periods for the World Ocean over the 1991-2020 time period. Additionally, the WOA23 climate normals of temperature and salinity include associated statistical fields of observed oceanographic profile data interpolated to standard depth levels on quarter degree and one degree grids. The temperature and salinity 1991-2020 climate normal fields are an average of the 1991-2000, 2001-2010, and 2011-2020 decadal climatologies. This accession is a product generated by the National Centers for Environmental Information's (NCEI) Ocean Climate Laboratory Team. The analyses are derived from the NCEI World Ocean Database. The temperature and salinity climate normals were the first fields released as part of the World Ocean Atlas 2023 on October 18, 2022.

Salinas Monthly BCMv8
공공데이터포털
This data release contains monthly 270-meter gridded Basin Characterization Model (BCMv8) climate inputs and hydrologic outputs for Salinas (SAL). Gridded climate inputs include: precipitation (ppt), minimum temperature (tmn), maximum temperature (tmx), and potential evapotranspiration (pet). Gridded hydrologic variables include: actual evapotranspiration (aet), climatic water deficit (cwd), snowpack (pck), recharge (rch), runoff (run), and soil storage (str). The units for temperature variables are degrees Celsius, and all other variables are in millimeters. Monthly historical variables from water years 1896 to 2019 are summarized into water year files and long-term average summaries for water years 1981-2010. Four future climate scenarios were spatially downscaled from 6 kilometers to 270 meters, and run through the BCMv8 using the same model parameters. The future climate scenarios are all Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 8.5 and include: CanESM2, CNRM-CM5, HadGEM2-ES, and MIROC5 from California's Forth Climate Change Assessment. Future climate scenarios span from water year 2007 to 2099, and monthly variables were summarized by water year and the average 2070 to 2099 period. Streamflow for each calibration basin was calculated using a post processing Excel spreadsheet and BCMv8 recharge and runoff, and are provided in tabular comma separated *.csv files. Raster grids are in the NAD83 California Teale Albers, (meters) projection in an open format ascii text file (*.asc).
