Lake Ontario Downstream Tributary Water Chemistry Monitoring
From 2018 to 2023, ministry staff collected water quality samples year-round from seven rivers that flow into Lake Ontario in the Greater Toronto Area. They did this to understand the amount of pollutants and other materials that these rivers carry into the lake. **Parameters measured** The dataset contains information on the water quality of these rivers, including: - Nutrients - Major ions - Suspended solids - Heavy metals - Microbial indicators **Sample types** The dataset has two types of water samples: 1. Discrete samples collected at a specific time 2. Composite samples collected over periods of time

Lake Ontario Water Quality Transect Data 2015-18

From May of 2015 through September of 2018, water-quality data were collected at 178 locations from select tributaries, embayments, and nearshore lake locations along New York's Lake Ontario waterfront in support of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and the Lakewide Action Management Plan. These data include environmental, replicate, and blank samples of nutrients and suspended solids as well as field measurements of physical parameters (temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, phycocyanin relative fluorescence, and chlorophyll relative fluorescence).

This dataset provides water quality analyses of lake surface samples and river samples collected throughout the ice-free season (May/June to October) from 2016 to 2019 from the Lake St. Clair nearshore, with a focus on the Thames River discharge area. Data includes nutrients and related biological parameters, including: • Phosphorus • Nitrogen • Suspended solids • Chlorophyll • Bacteria • Algal toxins Samples were collected by Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) staff. Work was conducted in collaboration and partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Great Lakes Institute of Ecosystem Research (GLIER, University of Windsor), Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LVTCA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). These data include: depth, velocity magnitude, velocity direction, navigational data, ADCP temperature, and channel profile.
