i08 CriticallyOverdraftedBasins
Table that can be joined to the i08_B118_CA_Groundwater Basins using the field Basin_Subbasin_Number to select only those basins that are designated to be critically overdrafted according to DWR Bulletin 118. In February 2019, DWR released the final 2018 Basin Boundary Modifications, which affected nine critically overdrafted basins. The modified basins subject to critical conditions of overdraft are shown on the Critically Overdrafted Basins Map and will be presented in the Bulletin 118 Update 2020. For the 2018 Basin Boundary Modifications, 10 modifications were completed that involved 9 of the 21 COD basins identified in Bulletin 118-2016. Eight (8) of the 10 modifications were minor (relatively small areas being added to, or removed from, a basin) and COD designation was unchanged. Two (2) of the 10 modifications were major (relatively large areas being added to, or removed from, a basin) and COD designation required evaluation for Paso Robles subbasin and Los Osos basin. The 2018 list of 21 COD basins is the same as the 2016 list, with one minor exception (new Los Osos Valley – Los Osos Area subbasin). The dataset is a feature class showing the boundaries of 517 groundwater basins and subbasins as defined by the California Department of Water Resources as last modified by the Basin Boundary Emergency Regulation adopted on October 21, 2015. The file is in ESRI geodatabase format and is intended for use with compatible GIS software. Groundwater basins are represented as polygon features and designated on the basis of geological and hydrological conditions - usually the occurrence of alluvial or unconsolidated deposits. When practical, large basins are also subdivided by political boundaries, as in the Central Valley. Basins are named and numbered per the convention of the Department of Water Resources. The associated data are considered DWR enterprise GIS data, which meet all appropriate requirements of the DWR GIS Spatial Data Standards. DWR makes no warranties or guarantees, either expressed or implied, as to the completeness, accuracy or correctness of the data, nor accepts or assumes any liability arising from or for any incorrect, incomplete or misleading subject data. Comments, problems, improvements, updates, or suggestions should be forwarded to gis@water.ca.gov.

This dataset depicts change in groundwater level at selected monitoring locations (wells) between two specified years, by season. Change values represent change in groundwater level (elevation) by year and season (fall or spring). Other information on the monitoring location is also included. Positive values indicate groundwater has risen (groundwater surface elevation has increased) from the early year to the late year, while negative values indicate groundwater level surface has fallen (decreased in elevation ) from the early year to the late year. Water level monitoring locations and measurements used are selected based on measurement date and well construction information, where available, and approximate groundwater levels in the unconfined to uppermost semi-confined aquifers.
