Geospatial database: Compiled geologic mapping in the area of the proposed Susitna-Watana hydroelectric project, south-central Alaska
In support of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project, the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) developed a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based geologic compilation of published and unpublished maps for twelve, inch-to-mile (1:63,360-scale) quadrangles encompassing the proposed hydroelectric project footprint, including the anticipated reservoir and surrounding area. DGGS geologists reviewed and analyzed existing geologic mapping for quality and completeness, and the maps were converted for use in GIS. The conversion process included scanning and georeferencing the original hard-copy map documents, creating a geodatabase, digitizing the geologic data, assigning attributes, and producing a digital data product for public release. The best available geologic mapping was synthesized into a single compilation data layer, and is packaged along with georeferenced scans and digitized vector files of the original geologic source maps. Bedrock geology was reviewed and revised by an independent contractor to ensure consistency with current geologic interpretations of the area. This geodatabase product will be a valuable reference resource for developers, planners, and scientists working on the hydroelectric project, as well as for any other projects in the area.

An inventory of subsurface geologic data: structure contour and isopach datasets, U.S. Geological Survey
공공데이터포털
Under the direction and funding of the National Cooperative Mapping Program with guidance and encouragement from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a digital database of three-dimensional (3D) vector data, displayed as two-dimensional (2D) data-extent bounding polygons. This geodatabase is to act as a virtual and digital inventory of 3D structure contour and isopach vector data for the USGS National Geologic Synthesis (NGS) team. This data will be available visually through a USGS web application and can be queried using complimentary nonspatial tables associated with each data harboring polygon. This initial publication contains 60 datasets collected directly from USGS specific publications and federal repositories. Further publications of dataset collections in versioned releases will be annotated in additional appendices, respectfully. These datasets can be identified from their specific version through their nonspatial tables. This digital dataset contains spatial extents of the 2D geologic vector data as polygon features that are attributed with unique identifiers that link the spatial data to nonspatial tables that define the data sources used and describe various aspects of each published model. The nonspatial DataSources table includes full citation and URL address for both published model reports, any digital model data released as a separate publication, and input type of vector data, using several classification schemes. A tabular glossary defines terms used in the dataset. A tabular data dictionary describes the entity and attribute information for all attributes of the geospatial data and the accompanying nonspatial tables.

Engineering-geologic map of the Chulitna region, southcentral Alaska
공공데이터포털
This map is the result of field investigations by DGGS in 1997 and 1998. This geologic map and report supersede the previously released Public Data File 1999-24D, Preliminary engineering-geologic map of the Healy A-6 Quadrangle, southcentral Alaska. The current map has been updated to include mapping of areas adjacent to the Healy A-6 Quadrangle. Field investigations were part of a two-year mapping program to provide geologic ground truth for airborne geophysical surveys flown by DGGS in the Chulitna region of southcentral Alaska during 1996.
High-resolution lidar data from the west Susitna area, Southcentral, Alaska
공공데이터포털
The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys used airborne lidar to produce a digital terrain model (DTM) and digital surface model (DSM) for the west Susitna area, about 65 km (40 mi) west of Wasilla, Alaska. Airborne data were collected November 4-10, 2019, and subsequently processed in Terrasolid and ArcGIS. Ground control data were concurrently collected by DGGS. All files can be downloaded free of charge from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys website (http://doi.org/10.14509/30455).
GIS Features of the Geospatial Fabric for the National Hydrologic Model, Alaska Domain
공공데이터포털
The Geospatial Fabric for National Hydrologic Modeling (Viger and Bock, 2014; Bock and others, 2020) is a dataset of hydrographic features and spatial data designed for use within the National Hydrologic Model that covers the conterminous United States (CONUS), Hawaii, and most major river basins that flow in from Canada. This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release consists of the geospatial fabric features and other related spatial datasets created to expand the National Hydrologic Model to Alaska. This child item contains data and information related to the GIS features of the Geospatial Fabric for National Hydrologic Model, Alaska domain. Two Open Geospatial Consortium geopackages are provided: one containing source layers that have had some pre-processing done from their native data formats (Reference_19.gpkg), and one (NHM_19.gpkg) containing 4 final feature layers for the NHM: points of interest (pois), a stream network (nsegment), aggregated catchments (catchments), and hydrologic response units (nhru). Features were derived from the MERRIT Hydro Global Hydrography Dataset.

Data Supporting The Geochemical Atlas of Alaska, 2016
공공데이터포털
A rich legacy of geochemical data produced since the early 1960s covers the great expanse of Alaska; careful treatment of such data may provide significant and revealing geochemical maps that may be used for landscape geochemistry, mineral resource exploration, and geoenvironmental investigations over large areas. To maximize the spatial density and extent of data coverage for statewide mapping of element distributions, we compiled and integrated analyses of more than 175,000 sediment and soil samples from three major, separate sources: the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Uranium Resource Evaluation program, and the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys geochemical databases. Various types of heterogeneity and deficiencies in these data presented major challenges to our development of coherently integrated datasets for modeling and mapping of element distributions. Researchers from many different organizations and disparate scientific studies collected samples that were analyzed using highly variable methods throughout a time period of more than 50 years, during which many changes in analytical techniques were developed and applied. Despite these challenges, the U.S. Geological Survey has produced a new systematically integrated compilation of sediment and soil geochemical data with an average sample site density of approximately 1 locality per 10 square kilometers (km2) for the entire State of Alaska, although density varies considerably among different areas. From that compilation, we have modeled and mapped the distributions of 68 elements, thus creating an updated geochemical atlas for the State.
