Analysis of Existing Data from a Distributed Acoustic Sensing Experiment at Garner Valley, California
In September 2013, an experiment using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) was conducted at Garner Valley, a test site of the University of California Santa Barbara (Lancelle et al., 2014). This submission includes noise cross-correlation functions (NCF) . Each file includes a NCF between two channels. The name of each channel denotes the distance in meters from starting point of the fiber-optic cable. The NCF is a time series data. The column 1 and 2 are time in seconds and dimensionless amplitude (cross correlation coefficient) respectively. Lancelle, C., N. Lord, H. Wang, D. Fratta, R. Nigbor, A. Chalari, R. Karaulanov, J. Distributed Acoustic Sensing Experiment Data from Garner Valley, California
공공데이터포털
In September 2013, an experiment using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) was conducted at Garner Valley, a test site of the University of California Santa Barbara (Lancelle et al., 2014). This submission includes all DAS data recorded during the experiment. The sampling rate for all files is 1000 samples per second. Any files with the same filename but ending in _01, _02, etc. represent sequential files from the same test. Locations of the sources are plotted on the basemap in GDR submission 481, titled: "PoroTomo Subtask 3.2 Sample data from a Distributed Acoustic Sensing experiment at Garner Valley, California (PoroTomo Subtask 3.2)." 공공데이터포털
In September 2013, an experiment using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) was conducted at Garner Valley, a test site of the University of California Santa Barbara (Lancelle et al., 2014). This submission includes one 45 kN shear shaker (called "large shaker" on the basemap) test for three different measurement systems. The shaker swept from a rest, up to 10 Hz, and back down to a rest over 60 seconds. Lancelle, C., N. Lord, H. Wang, D. Fratta, R. Nigbor, A. Chalari, R. Karaulanov, J. Baldwin, and E. 공공데이터포털
In September 2013, an experiment using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) was conducted at Garner Valley, a test site of the University of California Santa Barbara (Lancelle et al., 2014). This submission lists all file names from Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) data collected as part of PoroTomo Subtask 3.2. These file names represent data that is sampled at 1000 samples per second in segy format. The data is currently stored at University of Wisconsin Madison.
Arcata, California, Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) experiment: 2022 M6.4 Ferndale Aftershock Sequence (ver. 2.0, September 2025)
공공데이터포털
These data are from a Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) experiment in Arcata, CA, that was conducted jointly by the U.S. Geological Survey, Cal Poly Humboldt University, and Luna Inc. A Luna QuantX DAS interrogator was installed in the Arcata Police Station and connected to a fiber owned by Vero Communications that runs from Arcata to Eureka (Figure 1). The interrogator was installed on December 22nd, 2022, shortly after the December 20th, M6.4 Ferndale earthquake (see https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc73821036). This dataset covers much of the aftershock sequence including several earthquakes with magnitude >= 4, including the M5.4 earthquake on January 1st, 2023 (see https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc73827571). This release covers the time period from December 22nd, 2022 to December 31, 2023.
Spring 2022 Arcata to Eureka, California, Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) experiment: Nodal Seismometer data
공공데이터포털
These data are from a 3-month long deployment of nodal seismometers that ran from May 18th, 2022 until September 1st, 2022 as part of a Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) experiment above the Gorda plate (McGuire, et al., 2022). The sensors were deployed at 44 locations along Old Arcata Rd between Arcata and Eureka California (Figure 1); these locations track the approximate location of the fiber optic cable used as part of the DAS experiment. The instruments have a battery recording life of approximately one month and were swapped out in the same locations in Mid-June, and Mid-July. Thus, there are 132 instruments that were deployed at 44 distinct locations.
