Surface underway measurements of partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in water and atmosphere, sea surface temperature, sea surface salinity and barometric pressure obtained during the R/V Kronprins Haakon cruise in the Arctic Ocean, Barents Sea from 2019-07-01 to 2019-12-17 (NCEI Accession 0304447)
This NCEI Accession includes surface underway, chemical, meteorological and physical data collected during the R/V Celtic Explorer research cruises in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2022-04-24 to 2022-07-24. The measurements are done with a pCO2 instrument from General Oceanics (Miami/USA) and is described in detail in Pierrot et al.(2009). Surface water is pumped continuously from the intake to the equilibrator. The equilibrator contains a water spray head, and as the water flows through it the dissolved CO2 equilibrates with the headspace. The headspace is dried and xCO2 is determined and as the water flows through it the dissolved CO2 equilibrates with the headspace. The headspace is dried and xCO2 is determined by an infrared sensor. Calculations were performed following Pierrot (2009) and are described in detail in Steinhoff (2010).

This dataset includes surface underway measurements of partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2), water temperature and sea surface salinity collected during the Beaufort Gyre Observing System/Joint Ocean Ice Study onboard the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent during the Beaufort Gyre Observing System/Joint Ocean Ice Study cruise in the Arctic Ocean and Beaufort Sea from 2017-09-07 to 2017-10-02. The Shipboard Underway pCO2 Environmental Recorder (Sunburst Sensors, SUPER-CO2) utilizes a LICOR NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) analyzer coupled to a membrane contactor to equilibrate a gas stream to a flowing seawater sample stream. The membrane equilibrator was tied into the ship’s seawater line at a set flow rate of ~1.5 liters per minute. The SUPER-CO2 uses a Windows based tablet running custom software, developed by Sunburst Sensors, for instrument control, real-time data display and data collection. Three calibration standards (zero CO2, 386 and 710 parts per million CO2) were ran 6 times per day for the duration of the cruise. The raw collected SUPER-CO2 data was processed using a custom written Matlab QC program. The Matlab program calibrates the SUPER-CO2 values to the CO2 standards as well as temperature correcting the SUPER-CO2 to the seawater surface temperature (Dickson, 2007)

This dataset includes surface underway measurements of partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in water and atmosphere, sea surface temperature, sea surface salinity and barometric pressure collected during the M/V Tavastland cruises in the Baltic Sea in from 2020-01-07 to 2020-06-15. A General Oceanics (GO) pCO2 system (model 8050) was used for pCO2 measurements. The system is described in detail in Pierrot (2009). Surface water is pumped continuously from the intake to the equilibrator. The equilibrator contains a water spray head, and as the water flows through it the dissolved CO2 equilibrates with the headspace. The headspace is dried and xCO2 is determined by an infrared sensor. Calculations were performed following Pierrot (2009). The water is drawn directly from the sea chest at 6m depth. A temperature sensor (SBE38) is installed close to the intake. The water is pumped through 5 m of a piping connecting to the GO system. The equilibrator pressure is measured using a differential pressure sensor (inside/outside equilibrator) and an absolute pressure sensor next to the equilibrator. The air inlet is located 30 m above sea level next to the ship's funnel and the air line is constantly flushed with atmospheric air.
