Pilgrim Hot Springs: GEOPHIRES Inputs and Outputs for Direct-Use Geothermal District Heating and Cooling
This dataset includes files for a techno-economic analysis conducted using the GEOPHIRES simulator to examine the feasibility of expanding a larger district heating site in a remote location: Pilgrim Hot Springs, Alaska. Files included here are GEOPHIRES inputs and outputs for five different scenarios with varying demand, cycle, and system design characteristics to analyze. Also included is the link to the GEOPHIRES GitHub, as well as a link to the dataset that contains the energy modelling used to determine the heating demand for the district. For a list of the differences between scenarios, see the included "Input Overview.txt" file. Fields included in the input files are: subsurface technical parameters, surface technical parameters, financial parameters, capital and O&M parameters, as well as simulation parameters. The output files are case reports that summarize all equipment, reservoir characteristics, costs, and heating profiles.

Pilgrim Hot Springs Building Dimensions and Energy Modeling
공공데이터포털
This dataset was created to model the anticipated heating load of a geothermal project in development for the historical site of Pilgrim Hot Springs, and adds to the history of geothermal studies at the site. Models include an historical building (Nun's Quarters), existing modern buildings (Caretaker's Cabin, Igloo, Visitor's Cabin, Staff Shower Hut), and planned building projects (Changing Room, Greenhouse). Modeling results were used to determine feasible geothermal system typologies. The previous study linked below ("Village of Solomon Development of Energy Efficiency Building Standards for New Construction") feeds in to this project. The dataset includes DWG drawings and AKwarm energy models (.hm2) of a subset of existing buildings at the site of Pilgrim Hot Springs. All buildings were modeled in their current state, and some were additionally modeled with improvements to the building envelope. Energy modeling results exported from AKwarm include .htm and .png images.
Performance, Cost, and Financial Parameters of Geothermal District Heating Systems for Market Penetration Modeling under Various Scenarios
공공데이터포털
The U.S. Department of Energy Geothermal Vision (GeoVision) Study is currently looking at the potential to increase geothermal deployment in the U.S. and to understand the impact of this increased deployment. This paper reviews 31 performance, cost, and financial parameters as input for numerical simulations describing GDH system deployment in support of the GeoVision effort. The focus is on geothermal district heating (GDH) systems using hydrothermal and Enhanced Geothermal System resources in the U.S.; ground-source heat pumps and heat-to-electricity conversion technology were excluded. Parameters investigated include: 1) capital and operation and maintenance costs for both subsurface and surface equipment; 2) performance factors such as resource recovery factors, well flow rates, and system efficiencies; and 3) financial parameters such as inflation, interest, and tax rates. Current values as well as potential future improved values under various scenarios are presented. Sources of data considered include academic and popular literature, software tools such as GETEM and GEOPHIRES, industry interviews, and analysis conducted by other task forces for the GeoVision Study, e.g., on the drilling costs and reservoir performance.
