NSDUH Sample Redesign Issues and Methodological Studies
공공데이터포털
This National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) methodological report examines the feasibiilty and impacts of a variety of sample design changes on survey costs and data precision.
2014 NSDUH MRB Sample Design Report
공공데이터포털
2014 NSDUH MRB Sample Design Report
2014 NSDUH MRB Sample Experience Report
공공데이터포털
A coordinated sample design was developed for the 2014 through 2017 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUHs). The multiyear design consists of a deeply stratified, multistage area probability design. The 2014 sample design is thoroughly documented in the 2014 NSDUH sample design report (Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality, 2015a). The goal of this report is to further document the 2014 NSDUH sample experiences, including a comparison of actual sample yields to state and quarter targets, a comparison of achieved and expected design effects (DEFFs) and relative standard errors (RSEs), and documentation of any issues encountered during sample implementation. In addition, any unforeseen issues related to the 2014 sample redesign will be documented.
NSDUH: 2012 Questionnaire Field Test Report
공공데이터포털
This report summarizes the data collection and analytic methods and results for the 2012 Questionnaire Field Test (QFT) for the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). The 2012 QFT is meant to test the revisions to the questionnaire and protocols. These changes were designed to achieve three main goals: (1) to revise the questionnaire to address changing policy and research data needs, (2) to modify the survey methodology to improve the quality of estimates and the efficiency of data collection and processing, and (3) to maintain trends in core substance use estimates.
2021 Methodological Summary And Definitions
공공데이터포털
Use this summary report to properly interpret 2021 NSDUH estimates of substance use and mental health issues. The report accompanies theannual detailed tablesand covers overall methodology, key definitions for measures and terms used in 2021 NSDUH reports and tables, and selected analyses of the measures and how they should be interpreted. The report is organized into six chapters:Introduction.Description of the survey, including information about the sample design, data collection procedures, and key aspects of data processing such as development of the analysis weights. The report also includes methodological changes and related issues in the 2021 NSDUH due to COVID-19.Technical details on the statistical methods and measurement, such as suppression criteria for unreliable estimates, statistical testing procedures, issues around selected substance use and mental health measures, and the impact of methodological changes on response rates.Special topics related to prescription psychotherapeutic drugs.A comparison between NSDUH and other sources of data on substance use and mental health issues, including data sources for populations outside the NSDUH target population.A more in-depth view of special methodological issues for the 2021 NSDUH, including the results of special analyses that led SAMHSA to not compare estimates from 2021 to estimates from previous years. An appendix covers key definitions used in NSDUH reports and tables.
2011 NSDUH Sampling Error Report
공공데이터포털
This report compares the estimated (or realized) precisions of a key set of estimates with the targets for the 2011 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH),

2019 Methodological Summary and Definitions
공공데이터포털
Use this summary report to properly interpret 2019 NSDUH estimates of substance use and mental health issues. The report accompanies theannual detailed tablesand covers overall methodology, key definitions for measures and terms used in 2019 NSDUH reports and tables, and selected analyses of the measures and how they should be interpreted. The report is organized into five chapters:Introduction.Description of the survey, including information about the sample design, data collection procedures, and key aspects of data processing such as development of the analysis weights.Technical details on the statistical methods and measurement, such as suppression criteria for unreliable estimates, statistical testing procedures, issues around data accuracy, and measurement issues for selected substance use and mental health measures.Special topics related to prescription psychotherapeutic drugs.A comparison between NSDUH and other sources of data on substance use and mental health issues, including data sources for populations outside the NSDUH target population. An appendix covers key definitions used in NSDUH reports and tables.
Comparison of 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 NSDUH State Prevalence Estimates
공공데이터포털
This report presents trends of estimates for measures of substance use and mental health based on the combined 2010 and 2011 and the combined 2011 and 2012 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUHs). Topics covered include past month substance use (e.g., illicit drugs, marijuana, cocaine, pain relievers, alcohol, tobacco), substance dependence, abuse, and treatment need, past year serious mental illness (SMI), any mental illness (AMI), suicidal thoughts, and major depressive episode (MDE). Resuts are provided for five age groups: 12 to 17, 18 to 25, 26 or older, 18 or older and all persons 12 or older.
