National maps presented here show estimates from the 2013-2014 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) for 25 substance use and mental health outcomes, by age group, for 50 States and the District of Columbia. The color of each State indicates how a State ranks relative to other States for each measure. States with the highest rates for a given measure are in red, with the exception of the perceptions of great risk measures, for which the lowest perceptions of great risk are in red. Those States with the lowest estimates are in white, with the exception of the perceptions of great risk measures, for which the highest perceptions of great risk are in white.

View national maps covering 35 measures of substance use and mental health by age group and state. The maps are based on the 2021-2022 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). They use small area estimation (SAE) methods in which state-level NSDUH data are combined with other data from smaller geographies. The combined data are used to create modeled estimates of the civilian, noninstitutionalized population ages 12 and older for each state.The map images are available as a PDF or HTM file.

National maps presented here show estimates from the 2012-2013 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) for 25 substance use and mental health outcomes, by age group, for 50 States and the District of Columbia. The color of each State indicates how a State ranks relative to other States for each measure. Browse state-level percentage estimates based on the 2021-2022 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). The 37 tables include estimates for 35 measures of substance use and mental health, by age group, along with 95% confidence intervals. The percentages are based on small area estimation (SAE) methods, in which state-level NSDUH data are combined with other data from smaller geographies. The combined data are used to create modeled state estimates of the civilian, noninstitutionalized population ages 12 and older, or adults 18 and older for mental health measures.
