2017 Grand Bay NERR UAS 4-band Imagery
Data was gathered by use of VIS and BGNIR UAV sensors. UAV flight altitude is at least 100m and covers an area of 0.91 km2. Data was collected between May 9, 2017 and May 11, 2017 from the Grand Bay NERR site in Mississippi, A 4-Band raster image then was produced after consolidating data. Data was acquired by contract from NOAA to Quantum Spatial with a subcontract to PrecisionHawk. Specifications were for 4-band imagery at 3 cm resolution from an unmanned aerial system (UAS). The collection area consists of four areas within the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and focus on the NOAA sentinel sites. This was part of a research project funded by a grant from the NOAA UAS Office to the NOAA Office for Coastal Management.

Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping Product (IOCM). The images were acquired from a nominal altitude of 7,500 feet above ground level (AGL), using an Applanix Digital Sensor System (DSS). Imagery products are true color (RGB) and infrared (IR) images. Images have been orthorectified and mosaiced to produce a seamless data set. For information about combining the IR image and the RGB image into a 4 band NIR image, please download the IOCM Band Stack Guide document at this link: ftp://coast.noaa.gov/temp/metadata_supp

Historic aerial imagery for the Great Lakes shoreline of Lake Michigan was provided by the Bay-Lake Region Planning Commission (BLRPC). This imagery was captured in November 1980 by Aero-Metric Engineering, Inc. and archived by the BLRPC by Range/Township on mylar sheets at a scale of 1"=800'. Under contract to NOAA, Dewberry obtained the mylar sheets from BLRPC, scanned them at 600 DPI, and georeferenced the scanned images.

These images are part of a project funded by NOAA Office for Coastal Management to develop a high quality, user-friendly, attributed, centralized, multi-territorial digital database of georeferenced historic aerial imagery in the Pacific Islands region, including Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The objective of this project is to make previously unavailable historic aerial imagery of the Pacific Islands available for public consumption through NOAA's Digital Coast website. These images were scanned on a flatbed scanner and georeferenced to existing basemap data.
