Temperature profile data collected using XBT and other instruments from KNORR and other platforms in Northeast Atlantic Ocean from 1983-02-03 to 1984-10-22 (NCEI Accession 8600146)
공공데이터포털
Temperature profile data were collected using XBT, BT, and AXBT casts from the KNORR and other platforms in the Northeast Atlantic Ocean. Data were collected from 03 February 1983 to 22 October 1984 by Lamont - Doherty Earth Observatory with support from the Seasonal Response of the Equatorial Atlantic Experiment / Français Ocean Et Climat Dans L'Atlantique Equatorial (SEQUAL/FOCAL) project. Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Bathythermograph (XBT Aircraft) (C118) and Bathythermograph (XBT) (C116) formats. The C116/C118 format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data record was comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT Data File, in which temperature values were recorded at uniform 5 m intervals, the XBT data files contained temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Prior to July 1994, XBT data were routinely processed to one of these standard types. XBT data are now processed and loaded directly in to the NODC Ocean Profile Data Base (OPDB). Historic data from these two data types were loaded into the OPDB. The C116/C118 format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Oceanographic profile temperature data using XBT, collected by the Graduate School of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island during R/V Knorr cruise KN200-2 in the North Atlantic Ocean during 2011-03 (NCEI Accession 0121516)

The dataset consists of 37 XBT casts in the region northeast of Flemish Cap. The XBTs were Lockheed Martin Sippican Deep Blue probes with a nominal depth range of 760 m. The MK21 data acquisition system was used to log the raw data and the standard depth equation was used to determine probe depth. The data were subsequently bin-averaged into 1 m bins. The XBT data were collected during R/V Knorr cruise KN200-2 to the region northeast of Flemish Cap in the Northwest Atlantic. The purpose of the cruise was to observe the process of anticyclonic eddy generation and evolution in the so-called Northwest Corner region, where the northward-flowing North Atlantic current turns to flow eastward. During the cruise the upper ocean hydrography, in an approximately 250 km square region centered on the turning region, was observed with a grid of CTD casts to 1000 db spaced approximately 50 km apart. The XBT was deployed at roughly the midpoints of some of the transits between CTD stations and at other locations in the region.
Temperature profiles from XBT casts from the USS CURTS and other platforms from the North Atlantic Ocean and other locations as part of the South Atlantic Bight project from 1980-04-30 to 1986-04-24 (NCEI Accession 8600175)

Temperature profiles were collected from XBT casts from the USS CURTS and other platforms from 30 April 1980 to 24 April 1986. Data were submitted by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) as part of the South Atlantic Bight project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contain temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. Special instruments permitted measurements to be obtained to 1830 m. The following was present prior to current abstract edit but does not conform to digital data. This record contains Sofar float (subsurface drifter) data collected during the GUSREX (GUlf Stream Recirculation EXperiment) in the Northern Atlantic. There were 41 deployments from April 30 to December 31, 1980. The data was collected over a period of 6 years from April 30, 1980 to April 24, 1986. The floats were deployed at 700 and 2000 m depths. Additional parameters measured were temperature and pressure. These data were submitted by Dr. Phil Richardson, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). The data is currently available in the C116 Bathythermograph file format of NODC.
