Weathering Effects on Degradation of Low-Density Polyethylene-Nanosilica Composite with Added Pro-oxidant
Nanomaterials are increasingly used in polymer composites to enhance the properties of these materials. Data are presented from a study of sunlight-induced weathering on potential release of nanosilica from a composite with low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Weathering of the composites was determined by quantifying changes in infrared spectroscopic properties (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy / FTIR); mechanical properties, atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy and other procedures. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Zepp, R., B. Acrey, M. Davis, A. Andrady, J. Locklin, R. Arnold, O. Okungbowa, and A. Commodore. Weathering Effects on Degradation of Low-Density Polyethylene-Nanosilica Composite with Added Pro-oxidant. Journal of Polymers and the Environment. Evaluating Weathering of Food Packaging Polyethylene-Nano-clay Composites: Release of Nanoparticles and their Impacts
공공데이터포털
When nanomaterials added to consumer products create products with improved properties. However, it is necessary to evaluate the potential of adverse impacts on the environment and the human health. This study has shown there is strong evidence that the stability of two types of food packaging low density polyethylene (LDPE)-clay composite films are altered when exposed to environmental conditions, UV-irradiation or ozone in the presence of moisture. Both LDPE samples underwent oxidative degradation during UV irradiation or ozone exposure resulting in a substantial change in physical, structural, and thermal properties releasing clay nanoparticles. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Han, C., E. Sahle-Demessie, A. Zhao, and E. Varughese. Evaluating weathering of food packaging polyethylene-nano-clay composites: Release of nanoparticles and their impacts. NanoImpact. Elsevier B.V., Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS, 9: 61-71, (2018).

Sahle SDMP FRAGMENTATION Epoxy-with MWCNT
공공데이터포털
Data include changes in aging of weathered materials using optical macroscopy, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and Scanning electron microscopy. The release of fragments and particles were determined using imaging methods. The influence NPs interaction with the polymer matrix on their environmental release has not been well studied. The current paper focuses on some analytical techniques suitable for evaluating the effects of weathering on the detection and characterization of NPs, including Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), optical microscopy, contact angle measurements, gravimetric analysis, confocal microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy. The study also includes the toxicity of released particles and organic compounds. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Sahle-Demessie, E., C. Han, E. Varughese, B. Acrey, and R. Zepp. Fragmentation and release of pristine and functionalized carbon nanotubes from epoxy-nanocomposites during accelerated weathering. Environmental Science: Nano.
