CURRENT - DIRECTION and Other Data from UNKNOWN From World-Wide Distribution from 1928-01-01 to 1974-12-31 (NCEI Accession 8700078)
These data is a description of the Bauer-Robinson Numerical Atlas version VIII which contains temperatures for the surface layer for all ocean basins except the Arctic and temperatures and salinities for deep oceans in the Northern Hemisphere from 1928 to 1981. These originators tapes were prepared by Compass systems, Inc. and are currently available online in the current NODC data storage system. Included in the DDF is a reference list of where this data set has been published. These data were collected in association with NSI grants.

This data set contains NODC station data spanning from January 1935 to December 1978. The data set contains quality controlled station data profiles for standard levels, in non-NODC format, reporting temperature, salinity, and oxygen. The first file contains computer program documentation for reading the other nine data files. This data set was compiled by Sid Levitus at the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory ERL/NOAA.

This dataset contains an "Atlas of Selected "Modern" Good Quality Deep Data for the World Oceans (excluding the Arctic)". This atlas was compiled by Scripps and contains a world-wide distribution of station data from various sources. These station data parameters include: latitude, longitude, date, ship, data originator, depth, cast, % salinity, % oxygen, % inorganic PO4, % total phosphorus, % silicates, % nitrites, % nitrates, pH, wave height and period, sea state, dry and wet temperature and pressure, and cloud type and amount. Format is similar to old NODC SD2 format.

This data set contains the University of Wisconsin's Indian/Atlantic/Pacific Climate Atlas data. This data set includes maps of: temperature; salinity; mixed-layer depth; base of thermocline; thermocline thickness and intensity; geopotential anomaly of ocean surface relative to 400 decibars; surface currents and their divergence to 400 m depth. It also contains maps of the net oceanic heat gain, heat storage to 400 m, heat export, heat budget and diagrams of the annual cycle at six selected areas using all the above listed parameters. The data were submitted by Stefan Hastenrath and cover the years 1963-1984. The data in this accession represents data present on one of the six tapes submitted by the originator.
