Three tabular datasets providing tick counts from various transects and reproduction sites around Jackson, Wyoming. One table with data from total number of winter ticks collected running a transect along either an elk or moose hide, another table with winter tick counts collected and counted in a 250 m drag transect, and then the last table is the count of larvae that come from one fed female tick.

The data compares a dog surveyor to a human surveyor in both transect and survey plots, recording detection events, total number of tick larvae found, and how long the survey took, and the cost of the survey. A second tabular dataset outlining the associated costs for each survey.

The dataset accompanies manuscript: "Monitoring off-host winter tick abundance on traditional moose hunting lands". It is a single table that includes counts of winter tick (Dermacentor albipictus) obtained by a modified flagging technique developed by the Penobscot Nation. The table includes both detection and site covariates used for the data analyses presented in the paper. Data were collected by the University of Massachusetts student Juliana Berube at 20 sites in west and central Massachusetts, USA (WCM), and 11 sites in the White Mountain National Forest and Umbegog National Wildlife Refuge in New Hampshire, USA (WMU). Data were collected from 6 September 2022 – 4 December 2022.

This data release contains summarized elk aggregation metrics generated from Global Positioning System (GPS) collar locations of elk on the National Elk Refuge in Jackson, Wyoming. Aggregation metrics include annual kernel density estimates of the area used by elk on the National Elk Refuge, daily measures of inter-elk distances, daily pairwise proximity, and daily mean proximity and associated explanatory covariates.

We calculated mean adult and yearling female elk abundance for each Wyoming winter supplemental feedground subpopulation for data collected from 2009 to 2015. In addition, the average seroprevalence of brucellosis in elk attending feedgrounds was based on blood samples from adult and yearling female elk from 1993 to 2015. The sample size of disease tests and the number of years over which they were collected on each feedground are also listed. Serological profiles were categorized using the 2003 U.S. Department of Agriculture brucellosis eradication uniform methods and rules for cervids. These serological tests indicate whether or not an individual has been exposed, but not whether they are currently infected.
