Sixty-two (62) data files and one doc file from Dr. Alan Longhurst, Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. These contain chlorophyll data from North Atlantic received from NODC's Ocean Climate Laboratory via File Transfer Protocol. Data were collected during multiple cruises associated with various projects including JGOFS/NABE, CUEA, FOCAL, and ICES from 1961-1990. The format is contained in a .DOC file; parameters are: cruise, station, position, date, depth in meters, and chlorophyll-a in mg/cubic meter.

The accession contains all of the observations made on the bottle casts during the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS)/ North Atlantic Bloom Experiment as part of North Atlantic Bloom Survey (NABS) from ship ATLANTIS II cruise 119 legs 4 & 5, April - July 1989 in NE Atlantic (limit-40 W). The data consists of three data files: 1. NABE NUTS.DAT contains pressure, depth, temperature, salinity, sigma-t, oxygen, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicate, organic carbon, nitrogen, alkalinity, carbon dioxide and partial pressure of carbon dioxide data. 2. NABE PIG.DAT contains chlorophyll-a, perdinin, carotene and fucoxanthin and derivatives data. 3. NABE BIO.DAT contains silicates, flagellates, plankton, bacteria and others data. The documentation includes the record format and a hardcopy description of methods and materials from the data contributors. The data was submitted in a diskette by Peter G. Brewer of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA.

Temperature profile data were collected in NW Atlantic (limit-40 W) from ship KOELN ATLANTIC as part of the Ship Of Opportunity Programme (SOOP) and World Ocean Circulation Experiment. The data were collected from December 31, 1989 to January 1, 1991. The originator's 796 SOOP bathythermograph (XBT) data set from 14 cruises was submitted by Dr. P. Ehlers of Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie, Hamburg, Germany via File Transfer Protocol.

This dataset contains 73 sets of data collected as part of Shipboard Environmental data Acquisition System (SEAS) III program in North Pacific Ocean, North Atlantic Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico. The cruises were conducted using 27 different ships. The bathythermograph (XBT) data was collected between October 11, 1986 and November 30, 1991. The data was sent from the cruise ships to the National Ocean Service, Rockville, MD via telecommunication. This data is currently available in the C116 file format of NODC.

Temperature and chemical data were collected using bottle and gas chromatograph casts from NOAA Ship Malcolm Baldrige and other platforms in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean from 07 November 1977 to 16 April 1990.

The water temperature data was collected by International Ice Patrol from April 1986 to June 1988 in the NW Atlantic. Ships Evergreen, Hornbeam, Tamaroa and Bittersweet were used to collect the data. The C116 Bathythermograph data was submitted by the US Coast Guard, Groton, CT.

This dataset contains data from cruises that were conducted using many different ships. The bathythermograph (XBT) data was collected between January 5 and November 12, 1989. The data were sent from the cruise ships to the National Ocean Service, Rockville, MD via telecommunication. This data was submitted by Mr. Woodward E. William and is currently available in the C116 file format of NODC.

This dataset contain data from Nine Seas III cruises conducted using many different ships. The bathythermograph (XBT) data was collected between March 28 and August 31, 1989. The data were sent from the cruise ships to the National Ocean Service, Rockville, MD via telecommunication. This data was submitted by Mr. Woodward E. William and is currently available in the C116 file format of NODC.

The data in this accession were collected in NW Atlantic (limit-40 W) from USS STOUT between October 18, 1995 and March 10, 1996. The real time data of water temperature at varying depth bathythermograph (XBT) was recorded in stripcharts by the US Navy. One line per strip chart. Some strip charts have time /date /ship id /latitude /longitude annotated on the strip chart. 85 XBT stripcharts, no log sheets were submitted to NODC.

Depth, temperature, and other data were collected from the OCEANUS from June 21, 1991 to July 4, 1991. Data were submitted by Dr. Robert Weller of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. These data were collected using XBT casts in the Northeast Atlantic Ocean.
