This dataset includes salinity, temperature, and depth measurements collected using STD from NOAA Ship DISCOVERER in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Data were collected for the CICAR 1971 project on cruises R-11, RP-11, and RP-9, from 1971-09-10 to 1971-09-19.

Pressure, salinity, and temperature data were collected using CTD casts from NOAA Ship WHITING. Data were collected in the Gulf of Mexico and other locations from 04 June 2002 to 18 December 2002. Data were submitted by the National Ocean Service (NOS) and are in the WHOI CTD Exchange Format.

Biological data from the Deep Ocean Mining Environmental Study (DOMES) was submitted by R.J. Ozretich from the University of Washington. The data were collected in the North Pacific ocean on three cruises of the OCEANOGRAPHER from April 26, 1978 to March 22, 1979. The cruises can be identified by the following reference numbers: RP01OC78 - L01008; RP13OC78 - L01009; and RP09OC79 - L01010. The parameters reported are temperature, salinity, oxygen, apparent oxygen utilization (AOU), nutrients (PH, Si, NO3, NO2, NH4), ATP, chlorophyll and phaeopigment concentrations. Original DOMES hydro data submitted on tape has been converted into the current NODC data storage format.
