Vertical Profiles and Near Surface Water Quality Transects for Dissolved Oxygen Monitoring of the Arthur Kill, New York and New Jersey, September 7th and 8th, 2023
Transects of near-surface continuous water-quality data and vertical profiles of the same parameters were collected over a 24-hour period from September 7 to September 8, 2023 in the Arthur Kill. The Arthur Kill is a tidal strait located between Staten Island, New York, and Union and Middlesex Counties, New Jersey, and connects Newark Bay to the north and Raritan Bay to the south. It is a major shipping channel for the Port of New York and New Jersey surrounded by industrial and highly developed land. Transects were collected using a Yellow Springs Instruments (YSI) EXO2 series water-quality sonde with a 5-second data collection interval while the boat was in motion. Vertical profiles of water-quality parameters were collected using a YSI EXO2 series water-quality sonde with 1-second data collection interval. A stationary YSI EXO2 series water-quality sonde collecting 5-minute data at a depth of approximately 1 meter was deployed in the waterway during this time as a point of reference. Data are stored in three zip files: 1) the near-surface continuous transect data, 2) the vertical profile data, and 3) the stationary sonde data. In addition, the continuous transect data can be viewed as an online webmap: https://ny.water.usgs.gov/maps/arthurkillwaterquality

Bottom dissolved oxygen measurements from Lake Erie's Central Basin, 2020
공공데이터포털
This data set, compiled by USGS Lake Erie Biological Station, provides near-bottom measurements of temperature and dissolved oxygen for the Central Basin of Lake Erie. Data were recorded by self-contained environmental data loggers (PME, Inc., MiniDOT data loggers). The data loggers were deployed during the stratified period (i.e., beginning of June 2020 through late October 2020) to better understand how hypoxia develops and influences fish habitat quality. The data loggers were deployed on acoustic telemetry receivers in a network designed to record tagged fish movements (Great Lakes Acoustic Telemetry Observation System, GLATOS). Additional years of data collection are planned, and data release will be updated as necessary.

Geospatial datasets of AUV observations including bottom dissolved oxygen in Great South Bay, Long Island, New York, August 2016
공공데이터포털
This data set provides locations and values of water quality parameters from a survey conducted on August 25, 2016 using an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) in Nicoll Bay, NY. During the August 25 survey, 12,275 observations of water quality parameters were made. Parameters collected include dissolved oxygen, pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and salinity. Data was collected in approximately east-west transects by the AUV, with the northern-most transects made first. Data was collected between the hours of 1 am and 5 am to obtain minimum DO values in the daily cycle.

This data provides an interpolated raster surface of dissolved oxygen values across a region covered by an August 25, 2016 AUV survey. The raster was generated by using a natural neighbors interpolator within a GIS on the empirical data set. This interpolator was chosen due to the non-normal distribution observed among the data, and its ability to produce smoother approximations than alternative interpolation methods. During the August 24 survey, 13,910 data points were collected. A subset of 4452 (25%) random points were removed prior to interpolation to check for the accuracy of the interpolated surface.
