Kenai National Wildlife Refuge: Dall sheep response to fire: vegetation surveys - 2023 survey data
Populations of Dall sheep (Ovis dalli) have been declining in the Chugach Range, Alaska since the 1990s. Past research suggests that fire can increase the carrying capacity of habitat for Dall sheep. To learn more specifically how fire affects Dall sheep in the Kenai Mountains, we conducted a habitat use-availability study within and near the 2019 Swan Lake Fire Burn on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. This dataset includes vegetation data collected in 2023 as part of this project.

Dall's Sheep Response to Fire: Fecal Sample Raw Collection Data, June 2023-Feb 2025
공공데이터포털
Tabular datasets containing information related to Dall sheep fecal samples collected as part of the Dall sheep response to fire project at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. The data contain two related tables, one with the bulk of the information related to the samples (location, date collected, etc.) and a second with information on the substrate types that the samples were collected from used to determine which samples may be best suited for laboratory analysis.

Effect of burn season and grazing deferment on mountain big sagebrush plant communities
공공데이터포털
,Relative species and cover group data from a four-year long replicated experiment comparing the effects of season of fire (spring or fall) and sheep grazing deferment on sagebrush-steppe rangelands in east Idaho, USA. Study conducted by USDA-Agriculture Research Service Range Sheep Production Efficiency Research unit staff at the US Sheep Experiment Station near Dubois, ID. Deferment treatments included either no grazing for one or two growing seasons after fire, or no deferment, in which domestic sheep returned in the season after fire. Data also include species lookup table, precipitation data, and data library.,Resources in this dataset:,
1994-1996 Dall Sheep Exclosures Dataset: Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve
공공데이터포털
Little documentation exists for habitat use by Dall’s sheep, or the role sheep play in the disturbance and/or maintenance of sensitive vegetation associations within Yukon-Charley Rivers NP. To expand the knowledge base for Dall’s sheep habitat attributes, resource management personnel from Yukon-Charley Rivers NP installed 5 grazing exclosures at 4 locations within the upper Charley River basin to document sheep impacts on arctic steppe (alpine tundra) plant communities. The exclosures were installed in 1994 and exclosure(s) were sampled in 1994, 1995, and 1996. Exclosure and control plots were sampled at each site using ocular estimation of percent cover for individual plant species. The purpose of this report was to compile existing data, methodology, and information about these grazing exclosures and make recommendations for future monitoring priorities and schedules. Monitoring of plots at grazing exclosures should continue, but annual visits are not required. Monitoring of the Dewey Bluff exclosure is of low priority due to minimal use by Dall’s sheep.
National Park Service Alaskan Dall Sheep Survey Units, Francis Singer, 1984
공공데이터포털
Dall sheep aerial survey units from the early 1980s by Francis Singer in Noatak National Preserve and Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve in Alaska. Dall sheep were surveyed 1981-83 in six National Parks and Preserves in Alaska by Francis Singer, National Park Service, Alaska Regional Office, Anchorage Alaska. This dataset contains spatial boundaries of his survey units.
