This reference contains the imagery data used in the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Orthophotos, raw imagery, and scanned aerial photos are common files held here. Color infrared, stereo pair, 1:12,000 scale, aerial photography of New River Gorge National River was acquired on March 27, 2003, during leaf-off conditions, by Sanborn Mapping Company, Inc. A digital orthophoto mosaic was produced from 471 color infrared aerial photographs, scanned at 600 dpi with 24-bit color depth. Scanned .tif images of the aerial photographs were imported into ERDAS IMAGINE IMG format where a photo block was created using the airborne GPS and IMU data that Sanborn Mapping Company, Inc. supplied with the aerial photography.

This reference contains the imagery data used in the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Orthophotos, raw imagery, and scanned aerial photos are common files held here. Sanborn Mapping Company, Inc. acquired color infrared, stereo pair, 1:12,000 scale aerial photography for a digital orthophoto mosaic of GARI on March 27, 2003, during leaf-off conditions. The aerial photographs were delivered to the NPS, quality checked, accepted as provided, and sent to NCSU. Upon receipt at NCSU, the aerial photographs were counted to make sure that none were missing, scanned and saved in TIFF format, and placed in the data archive that NCSU maintains for the NPS Northeast Region Inventory & Monitoring Program. Associated data and information provided by Sanborn Mapping Company, Inc. that are also stored in the data archive include the airborne global positioning system (GPS) and inertial mapping unit (IMU) data files, the camera calibration certificate, and a digital flight index map.

Geospatial data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of Niobrara National Scenic River
공공데이터포털
The files linked to this reference are the geospatial data created as part of the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Current format is ArcGIS file geodatabase but older formats may exist as shapefiles. The final NIOB vegetation map consists of 2,762 polygons totaling 29,081 acres (11,768 ha). Mean polygon size for vegetated types is 8.2 acres (3.32 ha). Of the total area, 20,878 acres (8,449 ha) or 72% represent natural or ruderal vegetation map classes. Agricultural vegetation, such as cultivated crops and pasture, account for approximately 3,267 acres (1,322 ha) or 11% of the total mapped area. Non-vegetated barren land is rare and only accounts for 520 acres (210 ha) or 1.8%. Open water is the most widespread land cover class with an area of approximately 4,415 acres (1,786 ha) or 15% of the total mapped area. Within the total area occupied by vegetation map classes, forest and woodland types were the most extensive (12,278 acres (4,969 ha) or 42%), followed by herbaceous types (7,021 acres (2,841 ha) or 24%), shrubland types (1,134 acres (532 ha) or 4.5%), and sparse types (265 acres (107 ha) or 0.9%).

This reference contains the imagery data used in the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Orthophotos, raw imagery, and scanned aerial photos are common files held here. GRBA base map imagery included a 4-band, 1-meter resolution, 2007 Digital Globe product and a 4-band, 6-inch resolution product acquired in June and July 2007 by Digital Mapping, Inc. (DMI) for the Southern Nevada Water Authority. Interpretation and mapping of the vegetation began using a four step process involving: (1) preliminary image classification and segmentation, (2) photo-interpretation and digitizing, (3) ground-truthing of the mapped data, and (4) map refinement and finalization.

Orthophotos, raw imagery, and scanned aerial photos are common files held here. Throughout the entire interpretation process, October 1988 CIR photographs were also viewed to better determine vegetation types. The 1988 photos, because they effectively captured fall colors in leaf canopies, were very helpful in revealing various distinctions not apparent on the 1995 and 1996 photographs. The primary characteristic that differed was that of color. Where changes in the vegetation occurred between the two sets of photographs, only characteristics on the recent set were used to determine the types.
