2004 Reson 8101ER Multibeam Sonar Data from Cruise AHI0402 collected around Tutuila, Ofu, Olosega, and Ta'u Islands, Territory of American Samoa.
Abstract Reson 8101ER multibeam Data were collected from 30 January and March 12, 2004, aboard NOAA Survey Launch Acoustic Habitat Investigator (AHI) at Tutuila, Ofu, Olosega, and Ta'u Islands in the Territory of American Samoa during cruise AHI0402. The data were logged into datasets titled Manua and Tutuila. These multibeam data were collected using SAIC ISS-2000 software in the Generic Sensor Format and processed using SABER editing software. Sound velocity corrections from a Seabird SBE19 CTD sensor and motion corrections from a POS-MV vertical reference were applied to the data in real time. Predicted tides were applied to the data in real time. Horizontal accuracy is 20m (no differential GPS correctors applied), vertical accuracy is depth dependent (~1% of water depth), WGS84 datum. These data are not to be used for navigation. Depths mapped range from 10 - 300 m. The AHI was deployed from the NOAA Ship Oscar E. Sette and surveyed independently during ship operations in other locations in American Samoa. The multibeam bathymetric data in generic sensor format from AHI0402 were submitted to NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) in Boulder, CO, for distribution in 2005.

EM300 and EM3002D multibeam Data were collected in 10-13 Feb. and 18 Feb-13 Mar 2006 aboard NOAA Ship Hi'ialakai in American Samoa at Swains Island, Tutuila, the Manu'a Group, Muli Seamount (also known as East Bank), Tulaga Seamount (also known as Southwest Bank), Vailulu'u Seamount and Rose Atoll during cruise HI-06-02 These multibeam data were collected using SAIC ISS-2000 software in the Generic Sensor Format and processed using SABER editing software. Surface sound velocity values were supplied by a Seabird SBE-45 MicroTSG and a SBE-38 remote temperature probe. Sound velocity corrections from a Seabird 911 CTD sensor and motion corrections from a POS-MV vertical reference were applied to the data in real time. Predicted tides were applied to the data in real time: at Tutuila, Muli, Tulago, Vailulu'u and the Manu'a Islands, Pago Pago (170000) predicted tides were used with no corrections; at Rose Atoll, Pago Pago tides were used with +0.1 hr time correction and a range ratio of 0.92; and at Swains Island, Pago Pago predicted tides were used with a -0.5 hr time correction and a 1.12 range ratio. Horizontal accuracy is 20m (no differential GPS correctors applied), vertical accuracy is depth dependent (~1% of water depth). WGS84 datum. These data are not to be used for navigation. Depths mapped range from 20 - 4800 m. Concurrent mapping was done by the R/V AHI in water depths ranging from 10-250 m with the data set being AHI-06-02; metadata for AHI-06-02 are submitted separately.

Reson 8101ER multibeam Data were collected between 19 April - 9 May 2007 aboard NOAA Survey Launch Acoustic Habitat Investigator (AHI) at Wake Atoll, Western Pacific during cruise AHI0701. These multibeam data were collected using SAIC ISS-2000 software in the Generic Sensor Format and processed using SABER editing software. Sound velocity corrections from a Seabird SBE19 CTD sensor and motion corrections from a POS-MV vertical reference were applied to the data in real time. Predicted tides were applied to the data in real time using predicted tides downloaded from NOAA's National Ocean Service Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) website. Horizontal accuracy is ~5m, DGPS from NavCom sensor from C&C Technologies was used, vertical accuracy is depth dependent (~1% of water depth), WGS84 datum. These data are not to be used for navigation. Depths mapped range from 5 - 350 m. The AHI was deployed from the NOAA Ship Hi'ialakai and concurrent mapping was done using the Simrad EM300 sonar aboard the ship; metadata for HI0701 are submitted separately.

These multibeam data were collected using SAIC ISS-2000 software in the Generic Sensor Format and processed using SABER editing software. Sound velocity corrections from a Seabird SBE19 CTD sensor and motion corrections from a POS-MV vertical reference were applied to the data in real time. Predicted tides were applied to the data in real time. At Jarvis Island, Hilo (1617760) predicted tides were used with a +2.0 time corrector and a range ratio of 1.10. At Palmyra and Kingman, Honolulu (1612340) predicted tides were used with a +1 hr 19 min time corrector and a range ratio of 0.56. Sound velocity corrections from a Seabird SBE19 CTD sensor and motion corrections from a POS-MV vertical reference were applied to the data in real time. Predicted tides were applied to the data in real time: for Johnston Island predicted tides from the NOS CO-OPS web site were used; for Baker and Howland Islands predicted tides based upon the Honolulu tide station (1612340) with a time corrector of 3 hrs 48 min and a range ratio of 3.91. Horizontal accuracy is 20m (no differential GPS correctors applied), vertical accuracy is depth dependent (~1% of water depth), WGS84 datum. These data are not to be used for navigation. Depths mapped range from ~10 - 300 m.
