Water velocities were measured in the Calumet Harbor for 5 dates in 2015 and 2016 using Teledyne Rio Grande 600 kHz acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP). The data were georeferenced with differential GPS receivers with submeter accuracy. These velocity data were collected in cooperation with the US Army Corps of Engineers-Chicago District. ADCP data were collected on the following dates and for the following purposes: May 12, 2015: Water velocities in the Calumet Harbor and Calumet River. Unsteady discharges in the Calumet River mouth. September 9, 2015: Water velocities in the Calumet Harbor and Calumet River mouth. October 5, 2015: Water velocities in the Calumet Harbor and Calumet River mouth. March 25, 2016: Water velocities in the Calumet Harbor and Calumet River mouth. May 6, 2016: Water velocities in the Calumet Harbor and Calumet River mouth. Datasets were processed using the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and other, 2013) to derived temporally- and spatially-average water velocity values for each survey data. Refer to each dataset for specific details. Parsons, D. R., Jackson, P. R., Czuba, J. A., Engel, F. L., Rhoads, B. L., Oberg, K. A., Best, J. L., Mueller, D. S., Johnson, K. K. and Riley, J. D. Acoustic Doppler current profiler velocity data collected in the approach channel of Brandon Road Lock and Dam in 2015
공공데이터포털
Water velocities were measured in the Des Plaines River from approximately river mile 286 to river mile 284 on October 19–21, 2015 using Teledyne Rio Grande 1200 kHz acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP). The data were georeferenced with differential GPS receivers with submeter accuracy. These velocity data were collected in support of the US Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study (GLMRIS), and were concurrent with a dye-tracing study. ADCP data were collected in the approach channel of the Brandon Road Lock and downstream in the main channel of the Des Plaines River to determine the spatial distribution of depth-averaged velocity in the river on October 19–21, 2015. The data have been depth-averaged over the entire measured portion of the water column and temporally averaged over 5 second intervals to reduce noise. Data were processed using the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and other, 2013). Any data assigned a value of "9999" are invalid or missing and should not be used for analysis. The ADCP data collected on October 19 and 20, 2015 also included velocity measurements at cross sections in the Des Plaines River. These data were also processed with the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and others, 2013) to obtain a mean velocity field for each cross section derived from one or more individual transects at each location. Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler data collected in near Hammond Bay, Lake Huron, 2019
공공데이터포털
This dataset records results from a bottom-deployed upward-looking Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP, 600 kHz Workhorse Monitor, Teledyne RD Instruments, Poway, California) deployed during the summer of 2019 (late June until early August) near Hammond Bay, Lake Huron (45.5948 degrees north, -84.1542 degrees east). Data were collected in support of nearby Cladophora and benthic algal assessments, as well as to validate hydrodynamic modeling.
Spatial distribution of layer-averaged velocity measured in the Calumet Harbor, Illinois (May 12, 2015)
공공데이터포털
Acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data were collected at multiple transects spaced in a regular grid throughout Calumet Harbor on May 12, 2015 to determine the spatial distribution of layer-averaged velocities. The data were layer-averaged in 2-foot increments of depth from the bed to the water surface, and temporally-averaged over a 30-second window to reduce noise. Data were processed using the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and other, 2013). Any data assigned a value of "-9999" are invalid or missing and should not be used for analysis. Parsons, D.
