Tagging information, including migration and foraging behavioral data, for female reproductive loggerhead marine turtles (Caretta caretta) that were satellite tagged at nesting beaches at Gulf Shores (Alabama [AL]), Dry Tortugas National Park (DRTO, Florida [FL]), and Everglades National Park (ENP, FL) from 2011–2019. Variables include the tagging date, tagging site, the curved carapace length-notch (CCL-n, cm), the size category (≤ 87 cm CCL-n or > 87 cm CCL-n), and the first and last date of satellite tracking. Migration and foraging behavioral data include the first and last migration dates, the number (no) of days in migration mode, the length (distance) of the migration path distance (km), the mean depth along the migration path (m), the total number of days the turtle exhibited a stopover during migration, the first and last foraging dates, the no of days in foraging mode, the depth at the foraging centroid (m), the distance to shore from the foraging centroid (km), and the total number of days the turtle exhibited a migration foray during foraging.

This data contains one comma-delimited file with data collected from dive-logging satellite tags placed on loggerhead sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico. Specifically, the file contains the turtle's platform transmitter terminal (PTT; satellite tag) number, the date and time (in UTC) of the dive data collected, the behavioral mode of the turtle on that date, and the dive data values. These values are identified by the column "bin_type_num" which includes the type of bin and what level, as well as "value", which includes either the number or percent of dives.

The database contains monthly measurements taken on captive reared sea turtles. Measurements include: straight carapace length nuchal notch to carapace tip, straight carapace width maximum width, body depth maximum, weight.

The database contains records pertaining to sick captive sea turtles, their daily behavior, medications, food offered, food consumed, and water quality.

To determine the long-term population levels and trends of the loggerhead turtle population nesting at Turtle Bay, Dirk Hartog Is. Volunteers were used to assist with observations of turtle nesting and egg laying, and assist with tagging of loggerhead turtles each night for six nights. The sandy beaches of Turtle Bay, at the northern end of Dirk Hartog Island, are among the few key WA nesting sites for the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta). (The nesting sites are very close to Cape Inscription). The species is considered the most endangered turtle that nests in the Australian region and is declared threatened under the WA Wildlife Conservation Act.

30 PAT tags were deployed on nesting loggerhead turtles at Juno Beach, FL in June 2012. There have been three premature pop-offs, one of which appeared to be a mortality event. In addition, 10 of the turtles were also tagged with 10 GPS tags to provide detailed movement and behavior information.

This long-standing marine turtle tagging program monitors numbers of nesting hawksbill turtles on beaches 1-7 on Rosemary Island in the Dampier Archipelago. Beach 6 is the index beach. New and remigrant nesting turtles are tagged and data (carapace measurements, egg counts etc) are collected. Data are sent to DEC's Science Division in Woodvale. DEC Pilbara Region produces basic summary reports to meet DEC Animal Ethics Committee requirements. These are held at the DEC office in Karratha.

We deployed 30 Pop-off Archival Transmitting (PAT) satellite tags on nesting loggerhead turtles between 7 July and 11 July 2010 at Xel-Ha, XCacel, and Playa Aventuras in Quintana Roo, Mexico. The tags were programmed to transmit once a month, if possible, and then, after 1 year, to release itself from the turtle and transmit continuously for the remaining battery life. The tags also were programmed to release prematurely if the turtle/tag maintained a constant depth for more than 1 week. After one year, 29 of the 30 tags had transmitted at least once.

These data contain acceleration, pitch, yaw, roll, and ancillary data collected by acceleration data loggers (ADL) attached to four sea turtle species: green (Chelonia mydas) sea turtles, hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) sea turtles, Kemp's ridley (Lepidochelys kempii) sea turtles, and loggerhead (Caretta caretta) sea turtles. A total of 54 nesting events and 76 non-nesting emergence events were identified in the data and validated by satellite tag location data for three of the four species (i.e., Kemp's ridley spatial data not included) and researcher observations.
