Data release of geologic and geophysical maps of the onshore parts of the Santa Maria and Point Conception 30' x 60' quadrangles, California
공공데이터포털
This dataset accompanies geologic map publication " Geologic and geophysical maps of the onshore parts of the Santa Maria and Point Conception 30' x 60' quadrangles, California "; U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 3473. Data presented here include the digital geologic map database, paleontological sample locations and descriptions, and point data sets from magnetic and gravity data. The geologic database includes spatial feature classes and non-spatial tables that collectively contain the geologic information presented in the map plate. Fossil sample localities are included as a point feature class in the geologic map database and as two spreadsheet tables of fossil sample localities and fossil checklists. The location of gravity stations in the map area are compiled and augmented by new measurements of the Santa Maria and northern part of the Point Conception 30 x 60 quadrangle, California. This dataset represents an edited version of Langenheim (2013) U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2013-1282 and includes data that were collected after that publication. Point data representing the isostatic gravity field, gridded at a 200-m spacing, are presented for two reduction densities: 2000 kg/m3 and 2670 kg/m3. Point data representing the magnetic field, gridded at a 200-m spacing, are presented for magnetic data that have been filtered to emphasize shallow-depth and medium-depth magnetic sources. Boundaries of density and magnetic sources were derived from application of the maximum horizontal gradient method for the Santa Maria and Point Conception 30 x 60 quadrangle, California. Point data representing the maximum horizontal gradient boundaries in the magnetic field are presented for the total magnetic field and for magnetic data that have been filtered to emphasize shallow-depth and medium-depth magnetic sources. Point data representing the maximum horizontal gradient boundaries in the gravity field are presented for two reduction densities: 2000 kg/m3 and 2670 kg/m3.
Data release of Geologic data for the Aeromagnetic Map of Northeastern California
공공데이터포털
This digital data release contains geospatial geologic data compiled for northeastern California, a region predominantly covered by Quaternary and Neogene volcanic rocks. Geologic map data were compiled for the purposes of interpreting data from two aeromagnetic surveys that were flown for the area; geologic compilation focused on the existence and location of faults and volcanic features - those geologic elements considered most likely to produce a magnetic anomaly. Geologic data, compiled from published sources, include the location and characteristics of geologic contacts and faults, mapped geologic polygons, boundaries of volcanic edifices, and the location of volcanic vents. The digital geologic database presented here is a companion dataset to two data releases of geophysical data from the aeromagnetic surveys. Both the geologic and geophysical data are intended to support the eventual interpretive USGS publication "Aeromagnetic Map of Northeastern California ". The geologic database includes spatial feature classes that collectively contain the geologic information that will be presented in the published map plate. The spatial data are accompanied by non-spatial tables that describe the sources of geologic information, a description of geologic map units, a glossary of terms, and a Data Dictionary that duplicates the Entity and Attribute information contained in the metadata file. Spatial data are also released as shapefiles.

Data Release for Geologic Framework and Hydrogeology of the Rico Rico and Nogales 7.5â quadrangles, Upper Santa Cruz basin, Arizona, with 3-Dimensional hydrogeologic model
공공데이터포털
Rapid population growth and declining annual recharge to aquifers in the upper Santa Cruz basin area of southern Arizona, has increased the demand for additional groundwater resources. This demand is predicted to escalate in the future due to higher temperatures, longer droughts, less aquifer recharge, and decreased river and stream base flow. We conducted geologic studies to help evaluate and better understand groundwater resources in the basin. Results of these studies are presented in this report, which summarizes the basin geologic framework and hydrogeology, and presents a 3-D hydrogeologic model for the Rio Rico and Nogales 7.5â quadrangles. Three major hydrogeologic units are displayed in the 3-D model; a lower basement confining unit, consisting of Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Tertiary (Paleocene and Oligocene) rocks; a middle unit composed entirely of the Miocene Nogales Formation; and an upper unit consisting of late Miocene to Holocene surficial deposits. The Nogales Formation and the Late Miocene to Holocene sediments are the main aquifers in the Santa Cruz basin. The 3-D model integrates the hydrogeologic units and structural features to define the geometry, structure, and thickness of the aquifer system that provides water to Nogales and surrounding communities of southernmost Arizona. The report includes an EarthVision 3D Viewer, consisting of software enabling viewing data interactively in three-dimensional space, in order to help understand the internal complexities of the basin geometry, structure, stratigraphy, and hydrology. The 3-D model is a synthesis of geologic data from geologic maps, cross sections, and lithologic descriptions and interpretations, and geophysical data including gravity, magnetic data, and airborne electromagnetic data.
