Comparison of Acoustic Recorders and Field Observers for Monitoring Tundra Bird Communities in Northwestern Alaska
Acoustic recorders can detect the presence of birds and these detections may be used for the purpose of population abundance or estimation. This monitoring project compared the abundance of tundra-breeding birds detected through both acoustic monitoring and observational surveys. The data package is comprised of four tables: (1) habitat type, including vegetation height at sites where acoustic recorders and human observer point counts occurred, 2) bird detections obtained using the observer methods, 3) bird detections obtained using the acoustic monitoring method, and 4) taxonomy table of bird species detected during both observer and acoustic recorder survey methods.

Avian Point Count, Habitat, and Covariate Data for Subarctic Bird Abundance, Seward Peninsula, Alaska, 2012-2014
공공데이터포털
This data package contains three tables: avian counts by species, habitat type, a covariate information used for analysis of bird surveys conducted between 2012 and 2014 on the Seward Peninsula, Alaska, as part of the USGS Changing Arctic Ecosystems Initiative. We conducted 1,208 point counts on 12 study blocks from 2012–2014 in northwestern Alaska, using repeated surveys to account for imperfect detection of birds. We considered the importance of shrub height, density of low and tall shrubs (i.e. shrubs >0.5 m tall), percent of ground cover attributed to shrubs (including dwarf shrubs <0.5 m tall), and percent of herbaceous plant cover in predicting bird abundance

Avian Habitat Data, Seward Peninsula, Alaska, 2012
공공데이터포털
This data package contains two tables with habitat measurements from each sampling point used in avian point-transect surveys on the Seward Peninsula in 2012 and the locations of those sites. Measurements include percent cover and canopy height of alder (Alnus spp.), dwarf birch (Betula spp.), ericaceous shrubs (e.g., Empetrum, Vaccinium spp.), herbaceous, lichen (e.g., Cladonia spp.), and willow (Salix spp.).

Audio Recording Device Data for Assessing Avian Detectability, Seward Peninsula, Alaska, 2013-2014
공공데이터포털
This data set contains information from recording devices that were set to record regularly during summer breeding seasons. A single observer listened to 2692 recordings, noting which species were heard during each 10-min recording. We used this information to examine how avian detectability varied by day of season, time of day, and ambient temperature. All study locations were in northwestern Alaska, on the Seward Peninsula, and recordings were taken between May 25 and July 26 in 2013 and 2014.

Data and Photographs from the Inventory of Montane-nesting Birds in the Arctic Network of National Parks, Alaska - Bering Land Bridge National Preserve
공공데이터포털
This package contains seven tables of avian and habitat survey data from Bering Land Bridge National Preserve; part of the Arctic National Park Network (ARCN), Alaska. Tables include: 1) characteristics of bird survey sites, 2) vegetation classification at survey sites, 3) shorebird and predator detection surveys, 4) spot check bird surveys, 5) all bird species detection surveys, 6) taxonomic details of observed birds, and 7) point count habitat photos. Additionally, geospatial data corresponding to subsections, survey plots, and points are included with this data release in folder "montaneBirdInventory_geospatial_BELA". All data pertaining to the Bering Land Bridge National Preserve is also released as part of a study on Bristle-thighed Curlew abundance and habitat use on the Seward Peninsula. Note: The data presented in this release were collected following an unpublished protocol (C. Handel et al. unpubl., USGS ASC, Anchorage, AK).
