Zircon U-Pb data for Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks of the Gunnison block, central Colorado, USA
This data release includes raw detrital zircon U-Pb data for Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks of the Gunnison block, central Colorado, USA. Detrital zircon U-Pb data for five samples of metasedimentary rock (totaling 1459 zircon U-Pb dates) were acquired via laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) at the University of Arizona LaserChron Center. The data provide constraints on the sediment provenance, maximum depositional age, and timing of metamorphism of these metasedimentary rocks, providing insights on the crustal and tectonic evolution of the Gunnison block and Yavapai Province.

Detrital zircon U-Pb data for 11 sandstone samples (3269 zircon U-Pb dates) were acquired via LA-ICP-MS at the University of Arizona LaserChron Center for 11 sandstone samples. This document describes sedimentary rock samples and their associated detrital zircon U-Pb data that were collected to support geologic mapping and research initiatives within the context of the Geologic Framework of the Intermountain West Project. The data characterize the age and/or provenance of Neoproterozoic to Miocene strata exposed across the Intermountain West region of the United States, with outcrop locations distributed across parts of California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Most detrital zircon U-Pb data presented herein were acquired at the University of Arizona LaserChron Center (Tucson, AZ) between 2019 and 2024; a small subset of data was acquired at the U.S. Geological Survey Plasma Lab (Lakewood, CO) in 2021.

U-Pb zircon age data from meta-igneous rocks in the Clearwater Mountains, Mount Hayes A-6 Quadrangle, Alaska

We report U-Pb zircon geochronology results for one metavolcanic and one metaplutonic rock sample from the Mount Hayes A-6 Quadrangle of central Alaska. These samples are representative of rock units assigned to the Clearwater terrane of Jones and others (1987), a sequence of greenschist-grade metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of poorly constrained age and tectonic origin. Our results indicate a crystallization age of 277.33 +/- 11.84 Ma for a felsic metavolcanic rock, and a 268.05 +/- 11.64 Ma crystallization age for a granitic metaplutonic unit intruding the former.
U-Pb Zircon Data for Igneous and Metaigneous Rocks of Interior and Southwest Alaska

This dataset contains U-Pb isotopic data and associated dates for sampled igneous, meta-igneous, and metamorphic rocks of interior and southwestern Alaska. Samples were collected during geologic mapping and mineral deposit research from 2019 to 2023. Mapping and research were funded by the Mineral Resources Program of the U.S. Geological Survey. Mineral separations were conducted at the U.S. Geological Survey mineral separation laboratory in Denver, Colorado and GeoSep Services in Moscow, Idaho. Laser-ablation-inductively-coupled-plasma-mass spectrometry analyses of zircon grains were performed from 2020 through 2024 at the U.S Geological Survey Microbeam Laboratory in Denver, Colorado and at the GeoAnalytical Laboratory, Washington State University, Pullman, Washington by GeoSep Services.
