Benthic algae community composition data from the Colorado River Basin, Colorado, from 2022-23
This dataset includes benthic algae community composition data in the Colorado River near Cameo, Colorado, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) site number 09095500, from 2022 to 2023, and from three sites in the upper White River Basin, Colorado, in 2022. Taxonomic classification of algae species is not known well in theses rivers, and this study was conducted to record different algae species present in each river system. Benthic algae were typically identified as genus or species, and biomass and biovolume were provided for taxa. The U.S. Geological Survey completed data collection in upper White River Basin in cooperation with the White River Conservation District, and the Colorado River data collection was funded by the U.S. Geological Survey Water Mission Area as part of the Next Generation Water Observing System Upper Colorado River project.

Benthic algae data for the upper White River Basin, Colorado, 2020-21
공공데이터포털
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides benthic algae data collected from the upper White River Basin, Colorado, during August 2020 and July 2021. All data are reported as raw calculated values and are not rounded to USGS significant figures. The dataset includes samples collected at 20 USGS water-quality sites. Benthic algae were identified to the lowest possible taxonomic level, and abundance (density) and biovolume are reported.
Benthic Algal Community Composition in the Laurentian Great Lakes (2018-2023)
공공데이터포털
This data set includes information on benthic algae community composition collected during the growing seasons of 2018-2023 at stations located along the U.S. shoreline of Lakes Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. Benthic algal community observations were taken by scuba divers in the field and by personnel in the lab during sample processing with the goal to determine primary and secondary dominance of five major algae groups: Cladophora spp., Chara spp., diatoms, non-branching filamentous green algae, and other algae. While in early years of the project (2018-2020) the dominance was qualitatively assessed based on field and lab observations. From 2021 to 2023, a progressively more detailed microscopic examination was added for quantitative assessments of relative percent cover of algal groups. This dataset is part of a larger data set that includes algal and dreissenid mussel biomass; water quality assessments; and diver observations of dreissenid mussels, round gobies, benthic substrate, and benthic algal cover. We refer to the benthic algal community also as the Cladophora community and submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) in other published project data, which were collected starting in 2018 (Great Lakes Science Center, 2018).

Benthic Community and sediment data from Pensacola Bay, Florida 2016
공공데이터포털
Data is in support of a survey of benthic communities in across a salinity gradient Pensacola Bay during Summer 2016. Data describe the fauna community composition and corresponding sediment parameters (including sediment grain size and trace metal concentrations). Benthic habitat condition is estimated using benthic index approaches developed for Gulf estuaries (GOM B-IBI and EMAP-E). All taxonomic nomenclature follows the World Register of Marine Species (http://www.marinespecies.org/). Samples were collected using a 232 cm2 surface area box corer, and 0.5-mm mesh sieve. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Nestlerode, J., M. Murrell, J. Hagy, L. Harwell, and J. Lisa. Bioassessment of a Northwest Florida Estuary Using Benthic Macroinvertebrates. Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management. Allen Press, Inc., Lawrence, KS, USA, 16(2): 245-256, (2020).
Stream water chemistry and benthic macroinvertebrate data from the North Fork Clear Creek and Clear Creek, Colorado, USA, from 2011-2019, before and after acid mine drainage treatment
공공데이터포털
Stream water chemistry and benthic macroinvertebrate data collected in the North Fork of Clear Creek and Clear Creek, CO, USA before and after the diversion and treatment of acid mine drainage by a high-density sludge lime process water treatment plant. Stream water chemistry and benthic macroinvertebrate samples were collected from November 2011 through October 2019 at 6 sites located above and below the North Clear Creek Water Treatment Plant (NCCWTP). The NCCWTP became fully operational in September 2017. Measured water chemistry included pH, conductivity, alkalinity, ferrous iron, total and dissolved concentrations of metals and major geochemical cations, and dissolved organic carbon. Replicate (n=5) benthic macroinvertebrate samples were collected using a 0.1 square meter Hess sampler at targeted riffle habitats among sites. Benthic samples were processed from detrital material in the laboratory using a subsampling technique to reach 300+ invertebrates, and identified to the lowest taxonomic resolution possible, typically to genus (except for chironomids that were identified to subfamily).
