The dataset contains profiles of current speed taken by ADCP from the research vessel RV Atlantis. The data were received, reviewed, and prepared for archival at the Joint Archive (JA) for Shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (SADCP), a collaboration of NOAA and the University of Hawaii Currents Group. The high frequency samples along with ancillary parameters are provided in the Common Oceanographic Data Access System (CODAS) binary format, from which long- and short-form NetCDF files are made. This dataset provides ocean current velocities and directions that were quantified using a hull-mounted Teledyne RDI 75 KHz ADCP in December 2014 for the Submarine Ring of Fire – Ironman field effort aboard R/V Roger Revelle. ADCP data were collected, processed, and analyzed using the University of Hawaii data acquisition system (UHDAS) [Firing and Hummon, 2010; Firing et al., 2012]. The ADCP was operated in narrowband mode, producing current profiles that typically reached 625 m and were processed to five minute averages and 16 m depth bins. Data are in netCDF format.

This record describes the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data collected from the Marine National Facility RV Investigator voyage IN2018_V01, titled: "Detecting Southern Ocean change from repeat hydrography, deep Argo and trace element biogeochemistry & CAPRICORN." The voyage took place between the January 11 and February 22, 2018 departing Hobart (TAS) and returning to Hobart. Only the RDI Ocean Surveyor 75kHz ADCP was operational during this voyage. The RDI Ocean Surveyor 150kHz ADCP was not operated due to a hardware fault, so all data was collected with the RDI Ocean Surveyor 75kHz ADCP, which was run in narrow band mode only. The first four days of the voyage had a degraded seapath data feed to UHDAS. It appeared that the seapath D-GPS had been working in GNSS mode and not DGNSS. These issues were addressed by a reconfiguration of UHDAS to get a better heading calibration for the first part of the voyage and a subsequent part2 of the voyage was created. Internal triggering was used as the focus of this voyage was to collect current data and external triggering was found to be unstable on previous voyages. Port drop keel was flush with gondola for the majority of the voyage at 2m in the period between 2018-01-11T21:00:20Z and 2018-02-21T20:55:30Z. This dataset was processed and then archived within the CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere (O&A) Information and Data Centre (IDC) in Hobart.
